Community Contributions To Date

When we created NikeTalk in the winter of 1999, we developed and maintained the site as an act of community service.  For the first six years of our history, we operated on an ad-free basis, relying entirely on the generosity of our volunteer staff and registered members to finance the site’s hosting fees.  As our community grew, it became impractical to expect our fellow members to cover these costs and the burden was shifted, instead, to advertisers.  Rather than treat this as a nuisance or a necessary evil, we chose, instead, to embrace the possibility to use our surplus revenue to help support some of the world’s most inspiring nonprofit organizations in their efforts to make our world more just, compassionate, and sustainable.

Since first implementing ads in the summer of 2006, we’ve donated over $240,000 to a wide range of charities, and it’s all thanks to the support of members and visitors like you.

We hope you’ll agree that the following list of donations reflects the diversity that makes our community such a rich and vibrant place.

True social responsibility is not an occasional act, but a constant attitude.   We look forward to working with all of you every day to enact our values, advance our efforts, and make a positive, lasting difference in the lives of others.

A single clicked ad may only be worth a few cents (and a single viewed ad but a fraction of a cent), but the above donations help prove how strong and effective we can be when we all work together.

Thank you so much for making this possible!
