			<description><![CDATA[ It's hard to believe it's been 365 days since our 10th anniversary.&nbsp; It's even more difficult to believe that NikeTalk's been open for 11 years now.&nbsp; <br>To put it in perspective, that's about 4,000 days longer than our detractors thought we'd last. <br><br>If you'd been keeping track by counting on your hands, you're now officially screwed.&nbsp; (Unless, of course, you murdered Inigo Montoya's father.) <br><br><br>This is a low key anniversary and, to be honest, I don't really feel like celebrating.&nbsp; <br><br>It isn't enough for us to simply exist, to hang on for another year.&nbsp; NikeTalk began as a way to accomplish good for sneaker enthusiast community.&nbsp; In the years since, our focus has expanded as we've managed to raise over $100,000 together to help charitable organizations around the world confront some of the most dire challenges facing our planet and its inhabitants.&nbsp; These aren't battles that can be won by mere attrition.&nbsp; <br><br><span... ]]></description>

Given the sudden surge in public interest, it&#39;s an opportune moment to mention that an estimated <span style="font-weight: bold; text-decoration: underline;">40,000</span> Americans engage in dogfighting. It would be convenient to brand these 40,000+ people as
monsters for inflicting such unspeakable cruelty on other living, feeling, caring creatures - yet doing so only ignores the root cause. Caring about our fellow
species doesn&#39;t require us to be unfeeling toward the plight of our fellow human beings. Compassion is not a limited resource.

will finance the construction of a freestanding library in Nepal.

While the educational system in Nepal has improved markedly over the last two decades, the child literacy rate still stands at around 60% and stark gender
disparities in education demand redress.  Today, illiteracy plagues over 35% of Nepalese males and 57% of all females.  47% of Nepalese children suffer from
malnourishment and half live on less than $1 per day.

The plight facing children and families in Nepal so moved John Wood, then a senior executive at Microsoft, that he quit his job to help - eventually founding

Wow, what a milestone. Did I ever think it was possible? ....Yes.... Did I think people would enjoy visiting a place where they shared a common interest? Would
they enjoy visiting a place where they felt comfortable enough to openly share their differing opinions/ideas without being ridiculed? Would they return to a
place where they could feel confident knowing that the people behind the scenes would always look out for the community&#39;s best interests first. YES to all
of the above.

My goal was to create a place that felt comfortable, that allowed for a free exchange of ideas, opinions and or course, release dates and pics. To create a
home away from home. This place <span style="font-weight: bold;">still</span> feels like home. And it has since December 10th, 1999. Not because I founded it,

			<description><![CDATA[ With many of our members preparing to give thanks this week for all they currently enjoy, now is an appropriate time to share our good fortune with those in
need.

As a few of you already know, we at <a title="NikeTalk opened a Kiva.org account with $6,820 " target="_blank" href="http://niketalk.yuku.com/topic/95956">NikeTalk recently allocated $6,820 to Kiva.org</a>, a non-profit organization that helps facilitate loans to
entrepreneurs in developing nations.
<br>

We&#39;ve now issued four loans totaling $6,350.  This week, we&#39;ll be determining the recipient of our fifth loan - and we&#39;d like your help deciding. 
<br>
<br>
Please take a moment to review the profiles of these five groups.  Vote for your favorite, and once the polls have closed we&#39;ll try to complete their
request, lending up to the $1,600 and change remaining in our Kiva.org account.
