Pros: very stylish shoe with good comfort

Cons: poor traction, average stability, patent cracking

I love this shoe, because the design is very elegant and harmonized.
The whole upper is made of mesh with foam inside to add some stability and fitting.
The heel with the black collar is a smart design to allow more ankle flexibilty to the rear.
The patent leather adds some stability on the sides. The midsole and the full length air unit
offers a very good comfort to walk while the carbon fiber foot plate provides stability for the
midfoot and makes the shoe stretching back.
However, the patent leather (depending on batches) has often bad quality with cracking issues
which makes the shoe look worn out quick. The mesh upper offers quite good breathability but
also provides not enough stability. The Coolgreys and Columbias which have Nubuk/ smooth leather
uppers however do provide better stability.
The worst part of the AJ XI however is the traction of its clear outsole, while they are doing fine on
clean hardwood or outdoor, they totally fail when the hardwood is only a bit dirty/dusty.
So while you might play well in clean gyms, some dusty floors will kill your game.

I have noticed this is the case for all clear soles. I have played in my ANN 11 and at first traction is sticky. After some time it is if the clear soles get stale and yellow causing slipping on court. I often have to wipe with my hand during play. In the end these are great looking shoes but Retros are pretty much for looks and casual wear and for playing new performance models are a better on court all around.
