You talking about NYC radio. Angie, Enuff, Slay and Flex still play NYC cats. And then you can't forget about Clue. Hell Clue set the standard for breaking NYC artists with the mix tape which he revolutionized. That cats from other parts of the country was buying. That are now basically available for all since they're online. NYC is all politics and favors, but I'll be damned if an outsider tells me NYC radio doesn't play NYC artists but for an hour. y'all be the first ones listening to Flex and fiendin for radio rips on Nahright and Rap Radar then talking about how Flex jocks Jayz

Its as simple as that. RAP is damn near religious to us NewYorkers. when jay-z said "sittin all day & argue who's da best MCs biggie, jay-z or Nas" he wasn't Exaggerating...we take bars serious up here. We also take da culture VERY serious, its because not only do We vet da music, we also vet da individual...you see, us NYC cats got SO much classic albums to keep us well pacified that da typical rapper has to be thaaat great to even break our cycle of digesting 36 chambers, illmatic, OB4CL, Reasonable doubt, etc. For da millionth time. So if a cat is makin noise, we DONT JUMP on da band wagon like other states with weak hiphop roots, we give em a feel, and see wass popping first. At one point lil wayne was poppin everywhere else BUT NY, and he said it himself...it takes alot more than just some hot songs to prove ur a guy we'd invest in..look at Charles Hamilton for example: extremely talented kid, but because He didn't have da support of his OWN HOOD harlem, or NYC, his campaign folded like a cheap summer picnic table, and lyrically he ran CIRCLES around a$ap...but because he was a lame NY never blessed him...A$ap isn't safe from da scrutiny...if NY'S consensus of him is A "ny cat tryin to sound like a down south houston dude' den its gonna kill any demand he could've gotten... Another funny thing is da morons in here tryin to downplay hot97... how a$ap just signed a deal worth over 3 milli & NO ONE in da NY airwave broke wind to even mention much if anything about it...if his moves are so big den why ain't flex or angie playin his records? Drake was gettin airplay regularly when he was bubbling @ he was STILL a free agent @ that point.it just goes to show u that you gotta be straight up undeniable to get love in NY, cuz frankly we uaed to da best.

I'm neither. I'm just telling you guys the reality of it. NY Times and Fader aren't hip hop exclusive publications and labels have the pull and pay to get placements. Fader is usually good at predicting breakout artists, and it seems they're on the money...but it all seems to have been an engineered effort to me. That's just me looking at it from an industry standpoint though.

Da fact that magnus said "only enuff plays his record" lets me know he knows exactly what he's talkin bout...enuff is da only person in MY playin a$ap on da radio...& its on da 5 o'clock rush hour...da fact that no one plays his record in NYC raises Red flags for me....a cat like vado will get spins everywhere on hot 97 universally.
