I talk to customers over the phone and I can't believe the nerve that these people have. I am white and even I deal with stuff, people call in and in the middle of my introduction they interrupt assuming I am from a different country, sometimes if I am in a bad mood I will say " have you heard a single word I have said?" I am lucky because over the phone I only get one call listened to a week by our support staff so chances of me getting caught on a few calls isn't much. Best advice I can give you is to talk to your manager, expect them to say to just go along with it, but stand up for yourself, you don't have t deal with that in the workplace, point out peoples ignorance. I noticed that people who get me with the racist jokes first are the first ones to get mad and want to fight you after you get them back. Once this African American fellow that my friend knew kept telling me about how I'm illegal, to get out the country and kept calling me a %+$%@@, so I just told him that his great great grandparents came planking on slave ship to America, he got so hurt and kept telling me i was f**** messed up. If your going to come at someone with racist jokes you better not be the first one to get mad or get emotional.
