He never makes plays. And heck, he's not even rebounding this year (& Henson/Zeller are not stealing any away from him). So, I would at least be disappointed, and pretty close to mad.

If he isn't making his jumpers, his impact is non-existent. He'll hit somebody for 35 this year and maybe some other night goes off for 40 and the draft-gurus, HS scouts and everyone else who refuses to admit to him not being KD will poke their heads out and say "Told you so!." but it's not substantial.

Austin Rivers probably came out of the womb with a hesitation dribble and a step back even thought it can go without question that Barnes is the better prospect and most likely will have a more successfully NBA career don't be surprised if a wave of disappointment shoots over you when David Stern calls his name.

Barnes is Luol Deng to me. Is it me or since Roy has gotten there UNC has in a way morphed into what Duke used to be in terms of players pro potentials.

true. but vandy hasn't played to its potential (obviously they miss ezeli) and florida is still a question mark to me (no impressive wins, but no bad losses either). meanwhile, alabama loses at home to georgetown.

on the bright side, mississippi state finally seems to have some chemistry... i'm hoping not even rick stansbury can mess this season up.

and it pains me to say it, but ole miss might even surprise some people this year (that blowout to marquette notwithstanding).

Since Roy has gotten there?

They haven't had an imposing pro prospect in god knows how long... Luol has been better/more successful than every player to come out of UNC since Vince. They haven't produced anyone notable in damn near a decade. smiley: laugh

Since Roy has gotten there?

I agree but Ty Lawson is going to change that very soon. Hansjob as much as I dislike dude also came around last year also. And it wasn't as much there games I was comparing with Luol/Harrison as much as the hype/impact portions.

I'm trying to think what big time wing talent he's had at UNC? Rashad McCants was undersized and a headcase. MWill left too early. Ellington was too small and not really a high level athlete anyways. Who did he flop on? Certainly maximized those guys college potential. Is it his fault that Marvin Williams, Brandon Wright, and Ed Davis rode their high draft stock and bolted to the league instead of developing more after freshman year?

I tweeted Friday that UNC hasn't had a star since Vince too

but it really doesn't matter when you can offer countless nationally televised game and exposure like none other.

back to barnes, why was he so hyped up coming out of high school ? i remember seeing highlights and never seeing a phenom.

he's only proved to be effective on catch and shoot type plays. his handle is avg, athleticism is avg and he doesn't have that wow factor that superstars possess. when his shot isn't dropping he's near invisible on the court.

the raptors better not draft this guy is all i have to say.

I believe this to be untrue... there are a couple of places that offer those same nationally televised games & exposure ie: Mich St., Cuse, UConn, Duke, Kansas and even moreso these days Kentucky. Kids go there because of the Brand and the fact that Jordan went there along with the misconception that they breed stars (well this has been taken over the crew in Lexington but you get my drift) Its the great fallacy.

People are quick to say Duke players are Bust in the league but UNC isn't exactly glowing with star power on that level now are they? But you can't say that because they'll quickly point to Jeffrey

every body knows that

honestly since VC & Antawn left in 98 there been almost no one with star potential ... it has nothing to do with coaching or lack there of IMO

Big name guy's like Joe forte, Rashad McCants, sean may, wayne ellington Ceilings were low to start with...... Ty lawson and Ed davis both looking good tho smiley: pimp
