I don't understand this one bit, Spags would have been the perfect fit given his familiarity with Philadelphia and Jim Johnson's schemes. Plus I'd like to get rid of Washburn's "Wide 9" because it's so susceptible to big runs despite impressive sack numbers.

He keeps GM Jeff Ireland because it was a Parcells guy, and he seems to trust Ireland (not sure why) however, Ross also knows Peterson, and brings him in as a consultant, some speculate that if they find a coach that likes Peterson, he'd get Irelands job. Ireland and Peterson have different views on what type of coach the team needs, so they are going back and forth, essentially fighting for control. One likes one coach, the other likes another coach. Ross caught in the middle, who does he go with? If Ross would have merely met Fisher's demands (to help out if Fish and Ireland disagree on a player/issue and need resolution) then Fisher would have the job, Ireland would keep his, Peterson would be an adviser only or walk away, instead Fisher took the safer job, and now they are weighin one coordinator or another for a first time head coaching position. Add it all up, and we're 31st in the NFL in front office workings, only ahead of the Rex Ryan led Jets. If Ross was smart, he'd keep Bowles for this year, tank the season, get a top pick in a HUGE QB class coming in 2013, then sweep out the GM/Coach and QB, and with that top 1-2-3 type pick and a franchise QB surely in sight, a coach that wants a job with GM capabilities would come knocking on our door instead of the other way around. Instead, Ross will choose one of these coordinators, go out and win 7-8-9 games, mid round pick, lesser QB, and stuck for the forseeable future just being better than the Jets but not really amounting to anything.
