ATHENS – Georgia starting cornerback Sanders Commings was arrested overnight by University of Georgia police and booked on charges of domestic violence/simple battery, UGA police confirmed Saturday. Commings, 21, was booked into Athens-Clarke County Jail at 9:06 a.m. Saturday. He remains in police custody and no bond has been posted. UGA Police Chief Jimmy Williamson said his officers were flagged down a little after 1 a.m. by persons in a vehicle in downtown Athens. At that time the female victim and four witnesses were interviewed by police. Commings had left the scene. “Talking with [witnesses] there was some kind of interaction between [Commings] and a woman and they intervened,” Williamson said. “At some point in time he struck her. Based on the witness statements and interviews with the involved parties, that’s why he was arrested.” Williamson said officers then obtained a warrant from a magistrate judge. Commings was taken into custody later at his apartment. Williamson said Commings and the woman are in a relationship based on the charges. “With us going with domestic violence, it has to be a significant other,” he said. “They’re cohabitating in some way.” Commings, a rising senior from Augusta, is one of 10 starters slated to return on defense for the Bulldogs next season. He started all 14 games this past season and was tied for fourth on the team with 55 tackles. He also led the team in pass break-ups with 12 and had one interception. He has played in all but one game the past three seasons. Commings may have to remain in jail over the weekend. Under domestic violence law he must go before a judge before he can be released on bond. UGA spokesperson Claude Felton was not aware of Commings’ arrest when contacted by the AJC. As an SC fan you gotta feel good about the last cpl weekends, and next weekend is the grand finale. The country finally gets to see tgat Nelson was all SC all the time. The problem is, and we knew it was going to be due to sanctions is we dont have enough rides for all the top flight talent that wants to come on down. Unless we drop Pio or JCf, we only have 5 spots left. (Thats counting Zach Banner and Gerald Bowman). Reports are we have a "Very Good" shot at Kyle Murphy now after this weekend. Either him or Peat are going to see the opportunity to come in and be the heir apparent to Matt Kalil. Thats 1 ride. Nelson is 2. I think Tracy Howard is coming out, Thats 3. I think our staff wants a RB, DJ Foster may have silently commited last week, thats 4. Now we are down to 1 spot. Is it Aziz Shittu? What about the Florida kids? Leonard Williams is out here this weekend as was Fowler. We got McCord next week with his Mom. Cyler Miles is on campus right now. Hiva Latui wants on. We dont have enough spots. Have to like their chances with all 4.... Diamond is waiting until after NSD so that will be a wait and see like his teammate Chris Bryant last year... Garnett would push Kalis as the gem of this class... Kid has star written all over him if he can stay healthy... Mario Ojemudia is the kid I am most exciting for... Terror off the edge much like Shawn Crable but smaller.

Agholor to USC is gonna be a good look. As always though, the only thing that could change things is the distance. Oh, and the fact that he has been a silent commit to UGA all this time. Spoiler [+] And yes, if Williams ends up @ FSU there is a good chance that Fowler flips. Barring that I think he sticks. Would hate to lose that kid. Looks like Miami commit LB Reggie Northrup will flip to FSU soon. JHC says that he is down to 3 schools and not 2. Has added FSU to that group. Still think he ends up @UGA Florida will probably add McCallister in the next couple of days or so.
