I haven't had a cleaning in almost 5 years and it was horrible. They scraped my gums away and my entire mouth was bloody. And the sad part is I now have to get a cleaning every 6 months at that hell hole.

I get cleaned by my dentist every 6 months, it's recommended.

Since you haven't been getting cleanings (in 5 years) and haven't been flossing, you got a DEEP CLEANING and SRP, which is when they scale and scrape the plaque and calculus off your teeth and your roots (which are under your gums FYI). If you keep your hygiene proper, you won't need this anymore and every 6 months all you need is a regular cleaning with no root scaling, it's easy after this cleaning, just keep flossing and brushing.
