Man I really wish I would have been born a few years earlier. I was born in '86 so I was only 1-2 years old when all this stuff came out. I've grown uplistening to Jay-Z, Dr. Dre, Eminem, etc. but have recently started listening to people like Eric B and Rakim, Biz, Slick Rick, etc. and its crazy cuz I alwayshere lines that I've heard in more recent songs and I never had any idea where they originated from.

how can you exclude this album from the '88 discussion? It
Its not like the albums that I picked aren't just as good or better.

i agree with you to an extent, but in my opinion, Kane was alot more important to hip hop than Run DMC, or that's just how i see it.

Yeah but Run DMC showed that rap was here to stay and that it wasn't just a fad.

How has 94 not even been brought up in this conversation yet????

I mean you had Illmatic & Ready To Die two absolute classics- Illmatic is far and away the best ever in the same year...

In addition you got Resurrection by Common which brought I Used to Love H.E.R. which IMO can be made the argument as the best rap song ever. So along with 2classic albums you got maybe the best hip-hop track ever being released.

Than you got some other classics being released such as...

Hard to Earn- Gang Starr
The Sun Rises in The East- Jeru the Damaja
Southernplayalisticadillacmuzik- Outkast

you also got a bunch of other nice albums buut i dont really wont to post every single one, but 94 IMO can be said to be the best year in Hip-Hop.

'96 is the best year. 1994 and other years have classics but 1996 is deep. I remember dude postin a thread a few months back on how 1998 was the best yearin hip hop
