The Official Mac Thread (Docs, Themes, Apps, Etc.)

Sometimes my chrome freezes on yosemite and have to wait a minute to work. Also after upgrading, my wifi would drop, but hasn't been doing that lately so might be my router.

It's a know issues with Yosemite, some have experienced it others haven't.

my trackpad no longer works...it randomly clicks, scrolls, etc. i had to plug in an old mouse to use my computer...
i don't know if its yosemite or not. i have a genius bar appointment tomorrow. it might be the track pad itself or the battery from what i've read via google. my computer is from 2012...like around june or july or so. never had problems before but its ok. hopefully it can be fixed. of course i don't have apple care. :smh:

you'd think i would have learned working for apple. i can't complain i got this comp brand new with a huge discount. only paid roughly 300 dollars give or take at the time with the employee discount and the yearly discount stacked.

Girlfriend got me an iPad mini. Any advice on some important apps or websites?
Any recommendations on case plus screen protectors?

I've been using chrome for years and can't find a reason to switch to safari. Is safari really better than chrome, I wanna flourish. Or should I stick with chrome.

tried the safari on a friends macbook :x
Why are they trying to make it look like itunes?? Gonna hold off on updating to Yosemite until after the holidays

Anyone else's yahoo mail not working with the mail app? Mine just started giving me problems today and it's annoying. Can't send or receive jack

I think my 2011 MacBook died on me. I'm stuck on the white screen of death and it'll be a few days before I can get to the Genius Bar. All things are pointing to the damn logic board.

Can someone recommend a good app to remove malware ? My computer has been running slow for a while now.

Serious question, how do you know if you have malware? It's just running slower? Version of OS X?

10.8.5

I downloaded AVG and had 20 threats removed. Its been better but will slow down after a while.

I spoke to an IT friend of mine and he told me 8GB's isnt enough for what I'm trying to do. I use safari and firefox at the same time. I have 10+ tabs open and yes I need them open,iTunes, dual screens, and the mail app for the most part.

How much of an upgrade would you guys recommend ?

My unibody MBP from 2010 or 2011 won't boot from the HD. I got it to boot from the 10.6 install disk twice to run disk utility so I could attempt to repair the HD. Disk utility appeared to fix the issue, but it still won't boot (not even into Safe Mode). Apple support advised me to reinstall the OS, but now my MBP won't read/boot from the 10.6 install disk. Is my DVD drive cooked? Debating on grabbing a new MBP or iMac on Black Friday, but don't want to drop $1K plus again. FML

:x :smh: after seeing the posts about people's macs after updating to yosemite on apple support forums. More people with issues far outnumbered positive stories. Hope apple can release a service update soon to fix most of yosemite's issues. In the meantime will keep on rocking mavericks.

Most people upgrading to yosemite have outdated hard drives (or hard drives going bad) that can't really support yosemite. It's not really apples problem.

Upgrade to an ssd and you'll be fine.

The WiFi issue is totally on Apple IMO, haven't heard much about HD failure on the upgrade though. Went back to maverick myself.

it is on apple. if an OS needs SSD just to run stable then something is wrong. The OS should run smooth/stable on both regular HDs and SSDs. Only with the SSD being able to have even more improved performance over mechanical drives as is the norm when discussing HDs vs. SSDs.
