is there a date for the 2015 updated macbookpro coming out yet? i need a new one soon but people are saying to hold off till the new updates?

^ I was expecting that announcement today, as per the rumours. My 1st gen. aluminum MacBook died the other week and I've been working off my iMac for 10+ hours a day and it's driving me mental.

Nice! Got my laptop back today and so far so good.

Edit: This is still happening >:

I'm assuming it won't be covered for the repair extension program since it's not a "video issue" even though when I start up vlc sometimes I get the same scramble for the windows behind VLC.

Tried the PRAM reset and still nothing. And my screen turns blue now every time I open photoshop. WTHHHHH

Take it back to Apple. This is how mine started out and it did that for months. By the time I brought it in the other day it wouldn't even get to the login screen before completely killing the video display.

What I've been reading on the macrumors forums is that if you end up having it worked on 3 times, they've been quietly just giving people a new macbook.

Just made another appointment for this weekend. Last time I went they told me it might be an issue with my user profile since they couldn't replicate the issue in "guest user" but after this backup is finished I'll be logging into "guest user" to see if I still get this problem.

I know most said to stay away from a used 15", but I went with one anyway. I got it for 480 after 3 days of haggling down from 650. Its an 2011 i7 with 8GB of ram. Just threw in my crucial m500 240 gb I had laying around. Running smooth and fast. The aluminum body has some scratches but otherwise in perfect condition. Plus if the graphics card ever goes within now and next year, apple will cover it I believe. Anyways, its a good replacement for my crapped out macbook, and a huge upgrade.

Good luck bro. I have the notorious 2011 15" macbook. Logic board replaced two times already :smh:
Finally apple decided to admit they had faulty models with that replacement program.
I'm actually hoping my video card goes out before that program expires so i can at least prolong its life span.

My advice max out the RAM

Yea i may have made the wrong move, but its the affordable move. I needed a MacBook bad since a lot of stuff I run via OSX. All good though. Like I said it is blowing away what I had before, and I spent very little to upgrade and still be in the same platform.

Looks like 16 GB is the max. I think ill do that soon. I put this SSD in and it just flies. Hopefully if the video card is bad it shows up during my ownership within the next year.

Got my MBP back from the repair depot. So far so good. They even replaced my top case (which had a little dent in it. I had a ton of updating to do, this thing was running the Yosemite public beta 1 when it finally crapped out. Had to go through all of those before I could get to the combo 10.10.2 updater.

After being on my girl's old 2009 MacBook for a few months, it feels fantastic to be back on a fuller keyboard and have a ton of real estate on my display. I can only imagine how it'd feel if I went to a rMBP. Here's hoping the replacement logic board fixes my issues, and everyone else out there that has had problems with the early 2011 model.

2011 MBP just stuck on white screen when booting up. Mustve reset 100+ times over a 14 hour period

Oh well, I ordered a new 15" retina a week ago after having similar problems for a while and bumped it up to 1TB storage and it should get here Monday.

This morning I had to swap my hard drive out from my crapped out MBP to an even older white macbook to at least save my itunes library on an external

Same thing happened to me a while back.

Yup I did some research and its def a logic board issue. Been dealing with it since the new year which is very convenient because apple care just ran out :smh:

Figured I'd just upgrade and have something fresh for the next few years

My 2011 MBP did the same thing. Luckily it was still under warranty. Upgraded to a newer one and it's still running great. Cheers

Also, does anyone have an idea of how much money I could get for a late 2011 MBP 15inch being sold for parts/repair?

It has the logic board issue but other than that is in great condition.

How much could I get without a harddrive included? With it included? Thanks for any estimates.

Shouldnt you just be able to format the drive to FAT32 to allow read/write access on apple machines?

Yea but you can't transfer files larger than 4GB.

You can find the paragon NTFS software free various places online tho :nerd:

Anyone ever drop / dent their MBP

Did this to my 2014 retina. Hurts me everytime I look at it. Top left corner. No major damage but bottem left of screen is leaking light (black doesn't look as black there)

I'd imagine apple would cost me hunnids for a replacement body

I've seen them around 300 or so. How much Ram is in there?

People in here really getting rid of their 2011 MBP's. How much are you guys spending on another laptop? Is buying refurbished from apple recommended?
