The Official Mac Thread (Docs, Themes, Apps, Etc.)

12" was the perfect size back in my PowerBook days, had enough screen real estate to do light editing, fit in my bag for really easy portability, DVI plug to go to a big display when I needed to do real work.

I'm not in need of a new laptop now, but I'm glad the 12" is back.

no usb ports? no thunderbolt or hdmi prot either? pass.

New port USB-c, Apple has never been one to hold onto old standards. Hell I remember how tight people got when they dumped floppies back in 98. Then the optical drives a few years back on the MBA and rMBP. Yeah it sucks if you've got legacy products that you need for your work, but for Joe Consumer they'll adjust.

I'm still pissed that I ended up with a few FW drives that I can only plug in on one machine now without having to buy an adapter.

Going to buy the gold 12". Now I just need to find someone to sell my Mid 2012 13" top of the line model to :rolleyes I have no idea where to look for buyers though, any suggestions where to list it on?

I bought my rMBP on Valentines Day which makes me under 30 days still.

Do you think i'd be able to exchange it for the refreshed rMBP that was announced today?

the new macbooks that were announced today are not macbook pros. they are just macbooks. they are weaker compared to a rmbp.

i'd say keep yours tbh.

edit**

I did not know they released a new rmbp so my bad. yea, return yours and get the newest one.

only get $189 through Apple/Best Buy if i Trade in My 2012 non-retina Pro :x

Count me out for now

If you have the same MBP as me, check Apple's trade in, they'll at least give you like $475 or something. The thing is that you know they will refurb it and sell for like $800-900 though.

Oh dang, I got the top tier model. I'm still shocked that they'd only offer less than 1/3 of what I paid though. It's not even 3 years old yet.

Wait a minute doh...
One USB port....
What if I need to charge the thang, while using HDMI or while using an external hard? So I've got to purchase a $80 adapter/splitter that they, a multibillion dollar company, could have tossed in?

Would have been a great machine for 400-500 dollars. This is a beautifully glorified netbook! 1.1ghz Intel M? This is a basically a tablet processor. It's a step in the direction of an iPad with a keyboard. And for this price...:x:x

Now I'm real flaccid.

Space grey will be copped.

Imagine what the next air will look like.

Like, will it even physically exist? It's gotta be thinner than this, so, would it just be... Air?

That new Macbook looks awesome. I'm good with my Mid-2013 Air though. A couple more USB/Thunderbolt ports, bigger SSD, bigger screen. Only thing lacking on mine is the RAM (4GB which is kinda ******, but oh well). I can do without the Retina display.

+1. Except I upgraded to 8 GB of RAM.

As cool as this new MB is, I can't justify it. Hell, I find myself spending less and less time on my Air as it is. iPad + iPhone combo is making it an expensive paperweight.

Love the color options though. Hopefully that spreads to the Air and MBP.

Hmm 9 hrs web 10 hrs vid apple says which means 7-8 in real life. That retina is a battery drainer for sure. Liking the choice of colors though. Not likin the one port for everything though. Im waiting for apple to announce a expanded port dock or usb hub just for this lol. Thin and light is nice n everything to a certain point but damn are features being expended for the sake of ultra portability.

Like clockwork :x :smh:

yeah tried to exchange my 2014 rMBP that I bought on Valentines Day for the current rMBP that was announced yesterday with the faster processor.

However it seems like they're pretty strict on that 14 day exchange policy... I wish it was 30 days.

Bruh, iPhone/iPad combo is so damn clutch.

But I'm loving this new notebook because it's just as thin and light.

I need a iMac though. Something stationary for the fam at home

Getting the new macbook pro, is apple care suggested or should I skip on it?

I was digging the new macbook and originally wanted it but with 1.1ghz you can barely open 3 windows at once. That price is just too much for it.

Don't buy Applecare until the standard warranty is about to expire.  A lot of people don't realize that you're already covered for pretty much everything other than user damage for the life of the initial warranty.  All Applecare does is extend your warranty.  So if for some reason you end up getting rid of your MBP before a year is up, you just wasted $$.

Just be sure to buy it before your year warranty expires.

And don't buy it from Apple.  Check out B&H Photo and get it cheaper:  http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/search?Ntt=applecare&N=0&InitialSearch=yes&sts=ma&Top+Nav-Search=

And yes, they're legit.  They actually auto-enroll your unit so all you have to do is input the serial number, buy and you're all set.  They then ship you the Applecare packaging so you have a physical copy of the Applecare contract number on hand.

dude thank you so much.. And I never even thought about the B&H thing, I live right by them so I know they're legit. I appreciate it a lot man, thanks

USB-C is ******* stupid. Weak processor.

It is beautiful ... but I'll take a thicker laptop if it's more battery.

1299 :x .

Idk, feel like Apple dropped the ball on this one.

That new Macbook looks awesome. I'll get it in a year or two when the specs are a little better. I don't want to replace my 2012 MBP model and feel like I downgraded in any way.

Yeah I actually bought mine second-hand with 3 years of AppleCare like 2 months after it released for $800 so I can't complain.

When I bought it I asked the dude why he's selling a brand new MBA for so cheap and he said that he was putting all of his money into RC Cars. I didn't ask any questions after that .
