The Official Mac Thread (Docs, Themes, Apps, Etc.)

I'm going to need to run a Bootcamp or parallel on my macbook pro because there is some engineering programs that I need for school that only work with windows. What is the best way for this? I'm guessing Bootcamp since it would allow more ram to work with windows and it is native instead of a window program opening up in OSX.

Would that be correct? And how do I actually do this?

Thanks guys.

How easy is it to upgrade RAM on the macbook? I have a late 09 model and want to upgrade it to 4 gigs, I found some online for about 32 bucks so I'm wondering if I should buy them

anyone with a suggestion to a SSD for a macbook pro? (128GB is preferred but not a must) also, how hard is the installation?

anyone know if there is a program like bootcamp that you can use to run mac os on a windows machine?

turn off, wait 10-20 minutes
unscrew and open bottom case

make sure you get the static off of you

find the ram, pull the tabs to the side, it pops up then take em out and replace...turn on and enjoy

please and thanks.

Not sure if you'll be able to find one in your price range but check out the incase sleeves. Gets the job done and worth it imo.

It depends. Assuming those engineering programs run heavily I would probably go with Bootcamp for a better performance. Just run Bootcamp and it should walk you through the steps to step up everything, and you'll also need a copy of the Windows OS.

It's actually pretty easy. You should definitely upgrade your RAM if you haven't done so already. Follow the link and click on the model you have and it should show you how to install.

Try VMware. Looks like it might work.

Try this one:

Caselogic sleeve

Quick question about memory. I want to upgrade to 8 GB for my MBP and I see what Apple is charging and it is outrageous. I go to Newegg and see the prices there and it is a huge difference. Is there any disadvantages from purchasing the memory from newegg

Me too. I did have a 27" imac but my ex took it with her. I love this thing. Google chrome is a must have.

my apple care is about to expire in a couple days, so i'm taking in my late 08 unibody for an appointment tonight. i got a decent list of issues/stuff failing, hoping they just give me a new one.

I don't know if this is the right place to ask, but does anyone know if they'll be upgrading the iPod Classic anytime soon? I'm looking to buy one of craigslist and just wanted to know if a newer version will be out soon. I don't want to waste my time buying one now when a new one comes out a couple of months later...Thanks in advance!

probably not. they usually do iPod refreshes in September although this year they just threw it in with the 4S announcement and only updated the nano & the touch.

After much procrastination I finally pulled the trigger on the 15" MBP off Amazon.

Amazon, can't say enough good things about Amazon. I was worried about shipping and it was carefully packaged.

Anyway- Need a cliff notes version on how to make the most of this bad boy. I'm on the fence with skins since I did get that Case Logic sleeve I recommended a couple posts above. Interested in skins, keyboard protection, etc. Any recommended programs recommended?

Haven't had a chance to play around with it yet.

I did that for all my other accounts which work flawlessly but the yahoo account is always buggy so I just deleted it off the mail app. I'll try again though and just leave it there just to see how it goes.
