Really hope they don't go with that Air design for the Pro models. I'm getting it whenever it releases though. I've been without a laptop for the last two years

You could always just get Microsoft Office for Mac which includes Excel. But the Mac equivalent to Excel is Numbers which is included in iWork.

If it comes to that I'll get the older one when these release. I'm really not a fan of the airs form factor at all.
I can do without those. Never would use ethernet and was going to get rid of the ODD anyway to add a SSD for boot drive. But I just don't want that small form factor

I want to upgrade my mbp's ram from 4gb to 8gb.
What benefits have you guys experienced through upgrading the ram to 8gb?
Any help is appreciated.

I did this just recently, couple of things i noticed.
programs start up a little quicker.

Before the upgrade when i opened a movie file with vlc, my fan speed would start spinning like crazy to 5000 rpms, temperature would also rise to 90 degrees celcius.

Now whenever i use vlc to watch movies my fan stays at a relative quiet 2000 rpm and the temp stays steady at 50 degrees celcius.

These are the same problems that I've been having.
That's good to know; it looks like I'm definitely going to upgrade now.
Would this be a good option to go with?

I have a few questions i need help on. Is there a microsoft word for mac for free ? and secondly i've encountered a problem on youtube. I was using my pc yesterday and i could skip to a certain part of a youtube video which HAS NOT buffered yet, but it buffers from whichever part i clicked on. Now on a mac(or safari), I cannot do this, and when i try it automatically skkips me back to the beginning of the video. Any help?

1. Office for Mac is not free. But there are ways to obtain Office for Mac for free.
2. As for Youtube, I tested both Google Chrome and Safari. In both tests, I was able to jump to different parts of a video that hadn't buffered yet. Have you tried resetting Safari, emptying the cache, and trying again? Also, what is your internet connection like? Is your PC connected through ethernet and your Mac wi-fi?

Upgrading to 8gb of ram didn't work and I don't know why.

Are you sure you bought the correct type of RAM for the model that you have?

You should read this for better understanding: http://guides.macrumors.com/Buying_RAM

I asked this people in this thread if this ram was the correct one to buy. http://www.amazon.com/gp/...f=oh_o00_s00_i00_details
They said yes, but it didn't work.
After reading through that wiki, I see what the problem was.
The ram I bought was 1333mhz but my mac only supports 1067mhz.
Does anyone have any recommendations for 1067mhz ram?

Also does it matter if I get buffered or unbuffered ram?
