I reinstalled my 4gb of ram and now my mac is back to normal.

Are you sure you bought the correct type of RAM for the model that you have?

You should read this for better understanding: http://guides.macrumors.com/Buying_RAM

I asked this people in this thread if this ram was the correct one to buy. http://www.amazon.com/gp/...f=oh_o00_s00_i00_details
They said yes, but it didn't work.
After reading through that wiki, I see what the problem was.
The ram I bought was 1333mhz but my mac only supports 1067mhz.
Does anyone have any recommendations for 1067mhz ram?

Also does it matter if I get buffered or unbuffered ram?

i assume u have the 2010 model which doesnt support 1333 ram but you can mix and match 1066 and 1333 together and it will work since the logic board will downclock both to 1066

in theory, any 1333 ram should work but for some reason apple doesnt want to program their efi
get unbuffered since cheaper

buffered ram is mainly for servers and way more expensive

for good normal ram, crucial is the best

Try out Vox.
Also, you'll be able to use the keyboard controls.

. One more question. I saw some people's itunes set up on their desktop. It would show a custom clock, calendar, and music player. Can anyone point me in the right direction so I can customize my desktop?

i think the music player you're talking about is the app "bowtie"

as for the calender and clock i think you may be referring to "geektool" check: http://www.maclife.com/ar...ze_your_desktop_geektool

So guys my battery has finally hit 300+ cycles and I am still under AppleCare for a few months so i want to replace it. Do I set up an appointment to replace my battery right then and there or do they ship it out?

Edit: will they even replace it? I was reading that if you are above 300+ cycles you will have to buy the replacement.

it depends on the macbook. for the older models if you're over 300 cycles then you've consumed the battery and its all on you.  If you're under 300 cycles and the battery is below 80% health then they'll cover it.  for the unibody MacBooks its 1000 cycles.

apple will not replace your battery. they will only replace it if its defective, not charging

charge cycles are consider normal wear and tear

however most of the genius bar people are idiots and dont even know their own policy, just make up some story to them and they will bite

thanks i just looked that up.
I still need to take it in anyways since it has been acting up. I believe that my logic board might be going bad. When i boot it up, it turns off and restarts itself again randomly.

will not be upgrading to the newer ones. i need the optical drive and when i get home i like to connect using ethernet its a tad bit faster than wireless

Anyone having trouble with Candybar and its dock?

I can't drag and drop a dock to change it.
edit: nvm, I guess you have to drag and drop from Finder, not the app itself.
