The Official Mac Thread (Docs, Themes, Apps, Etc.)

I just got the 13" with Retina display. My wife has a 15" regular MBP. For portability its a no brainer. She hates using her's now since she's played with mine. Mine is quicker as well as far as opening apps and things like that. Screen size, I don't feel like I lost anything coming from a 15" Vaio and her 15" Pro because the screen is so CLEAR. I'm fairly new to the MBP family so I'm still learning but from what I can see the Retina display MBP are BEASTS.
It does have a glossy screen. I've only used it in the house so I haven't been distracted by reflections. Mine was a business purchase so I did everything online through Apple. I got the 256GB 13" so I didn't add anything to it. Hope that helps
- Preciate it.

The best response yet here to my questions. Thanks.

I mainly want to use mine for business as well. I guess with my bad vision and my previous 15' MBP I can't help but to want to go back to it. If anything its down to a reg 15 MBP or the 13 Retina display one. These things are crazy pricey. 8)

Anyone here own a mid-2011 Macbook Air?

I've had this Macbook for over a year.

Only thing I hate is how hot this thing gets. If I even try to watch Netflix the fans will reach up to 4000 RPM within 10 minutes, 6000+ shortly after.

I've actually had this problem since I first got it.

I have the same mid-2011 Air, mines a 13".. and if I go in the "Post a gif of how you're feeling today thread?" My laptop just turns into hot fire.. I think
it's just how it is. It's a pretty small laptop, so heat distribution probably isn't the greatest..

anyone having an issue with freezing after allowing the mac to sleep? Doesn't happen on my Imac but my air was tripping all day yesterday. Rebooted plenty of times, ran sophos, checked for malware, and then repaired the disk permissions.

It might just be my computer, didn't know if it was a lion issue though. I didn't really see a need to upgrade to ML but it could help, maybe

Mid 2009 air, Lion

Guys, for those of you that use PS, Indesign, Final cut pro etc on your laptop, is the 8GB of ram enough? I recently ordered a MacBook Pro retina with 2.6 Ghz, 8GB RAM and 256 HD, but have been told that it may not be enough to keep up with those programs. I use to edit on my old MBP that had 4 GB, and I felt that was fine. Should I just spend the extra 150 and bump up to 16 GB? Thanks for the recs in advance.

yea. i dont even use those programs but i have 16 gb in my 15 inch and i can kinda feel the difference with 8 gb..

i use all of those programs now on 8 gb just fine, but there have been times when I'm running FCPX and PS at the same time and it's a little slow. Also you will have a ssd so your performance should be better than mine.

^ Check newegg, I would go with Crucial, just make sure it's the correct one. RAM is fairly cheap nowadays, you might find it cheaper with it being black friday.

Need help. My MBA is unable to connect to the wifi connection. Wifi connection works on my iphone, so it's not the wifi that's having an issue. Any suggestion? thanks

from my experience Apple doesnt take too kindly with a lot of routers.

Try and reset it and see if it'll connect.

Another tip was to delete the key access password for wifi and reset and do the password thing all over.

Hey man, I actually noticed that the closer I get to my router, the easier it is to connect to the internet. But when I get farther, it becomes difficult to connect :rolleyes Any suggestion?

Sounds like your router isn't covering your whole house.

Got my MBP back from repairs and it keeps dropping wifi :>: Anyone know how to troubleshoot this? Btw i'm not tech savvy at all, thanks in advance

Can anyone recommend a cheap Macbook Pro charger. 2010 MBP, the plastic casing finally cracked on the charger, wires exposed, no more juice to my laptop.

Is yours the white T style of the aluminum L style?

If its white bring it to an Apple store and they'll replace it for you, those were recalled.

So my Logicboard fried and they replaced it. But, now my aftermarket 4gb of 667 DDR2 Ram no longer works (beeping noise when turned on with ram) when it did prior to the Logicboard replacement. This is for a MacBook Pro 15-inch, Early 2008 (non uni-body) Does anyone know what the issue might be?

Yeah only Macs after mid-2010 are able to carry audio. You can connect audio cables to get sound though. Works for me.
