I'd actually start lining up around 11:00-11:30 along the Lowes/Ikea area leading into thatplaza. Most early bird tailgaters do that to get to their usual spot in the parking lot.

If you're not going to tailgate, You'll be good getting there around 2-3 via trolley. Also, you can post up at the player parking lot adjacent to Esection of the parking lot near the inner ring so you can watch the Charger players pull up.

BTW, Merry Christmas.

Key information for fans attending Monday Night's home game at Qualcomm Stadium:

Kick-off: 5:00 PM PST

  • The parking lot opens at 12:00 PM and is expected to close by 2:00 PM
  • Arrive early and carpool or take the Trolley (www.sdmts.com)
  • If driving, expect Interstate 15 South and areas around Mission Valley and Fashion Valley to be heavily congested.
  • Get to the entry gates by 4:00 PM in preparation for bag inspection and search procedures
  • At the gates, all tickets are scanned to ease entry and deter counterfeit tickets
  • Fans will find the most up-to-date game-day information at www.chargers.com/stadium
  • Every fan entering Qualcomm Stadium will be subject to a "pat-down" search in an effort to assure a safe and enjoyable game-day experience
  • Transportation to the Game

**There will be no bus service to the Monday Night game on December 24. The MTS Chargers Express Bus and the NCTD BREEZE Express Bus will not service Qualcomm Stadium on December 24.**

The San Diego Trolley is the number-one mode of transportation to the stadium. Fans can ride the Trolley on the enhanced Green Line between Old Town and Santee before and after all games. Charger fans will have increased options along the Green Line from the East County, including:

  • El Cajon Transit Center (Main St. at Marshall)
  • Grossmont Transit Center (8601 Fletcher Parkway at Grossmont Center Dr.)
  • Grantville (I-8 at Mission Gorge).
In addition to offering enhanced game-day service on the Green Line, MTS Trolley will extend its Blue Line service to Qualcomm Stadium from South Bay communities and downtown before and after the game.

Fans can also pick up the Trolley at:

  • Old Town Transit Center (Pacific Highway at Taylor Street)
  • Petco Park.
The Green Line begins running three hours before kickoff. Round trip tickets range from $3-6. For more information on the San Diego Trolley, visit www.sdmts.com or call 5-1-1.

Amtrak will only have regularly scheduled service available on the Amtrak Pacific Surfliner to Downtown San Diego. There are no specialty schedules or fares to Old Town San Diego during December 24. Fans will need to purchase Trolley tickets before boarding the Trolley to the stadium. For schedule and ticket information, contact Amtrak at 1-800-USA-RAIL to or go to Amtrak.com.

Driving to the Game

For fans that must drive to the stadium, they are urged to arrive early and carpool. As usual, there will be heavy congestion around the stadium. Mission Valley, Fashion Valley and areas surrounding the stadium are expected to be congested with last-minute holiday shopping. Again, fans driving to the game are urged to plan ahead.

Overflow parking will be available at the Chicago Title building (corner of Friars Road and Northside Drive), San Diego State University, the Mission Valley Marriott and the Town and Country Hotel. Overflow lots are $15 to park. You must purchase a ticket before boarding the Trolley to the stadium.

With the parking lot expected to fill early, fans that are planning to tailgate should be reminded they are only permitted to do so in their parking space. Police will issue citations to fans whose tailgate parties infringe on neighboring parking spaces or parties which block sidewalk and pedestrian areas. Fans are also reminded that glass bottles are not allowed in the parking lot.

Bud Light Chargers Power Party

The Bud Light Chargers Power Party located in Lot F2 is the perfect tailgate opportunity for fans arriving early on the Trolley. The Power Party kicks off at 1:00 PM and features a giant Jumbotron screen and monitors all the pre-game action.

Entering the Stadium

Gates to the stadium will open at 3:00 PM. Club seat and luxury suite ticket holders will be admitted beginning at 2:00 PM. In order to be in their seats in time for the 5:00 PM kickoff, fans should arrive at the stadium gates by 4:00 PM.

The CHarger game was cool except for some small fights and seeing the most random jerseys. I don't get it, other than the broncos/chargers, I saw raiders, patriots, browns, bengals, and vikings gear on people in the stadium. So random.

Oh yeah, and Mark Prior is in the house!

Word. Welcome back home, Mark

Mark Prior, cut loose by the Cubs earlier this month, has agreed to terms with theSan Diego Padres.

In 2003, Mark Prior went 18-6 with a 2.43 ERA, was selected to the All-Star Game and finished third in the Cy Young voting. He has won just 18 games in 57 starts since.

Prior receives a one-year major league deal with a $1 million base salary. The contract, which doesn't include an option, contains incentive clausesthat could take the total value of the deal to over $3 million.

"Mark Prior is a competitor and is working hard to regain the form that made him one of the great young pitchers in the game," Padres generalmanager Kevin Towers said. "We are confident he is going to help us in our rotation this season. It's exciting that Mark is coming home to San Diegoto pitch for the Padres."

Prior, 27, last pitched in the big leagues in 2006, and had shoulder surgery in April of 2007.

The second overall pick in the 2001 draft, Prior went 18-6 for the Cubs in 2003 before experiencing a series of physical problems. He was born in San Diegoand lives in San Diego County, and the Padres' hope is that he is able to join a rotation that already includes Jake Peavy, ChrisYoung, Greg Maddux and Randy Wolf.

He has been throwing on flat ground, and to date, has been free of pain since his surgery.

Prior's lifetime record in the big leagues is 42-29, with a 3.51 ERA.

In 2003, Prior nearly pitched the Cubs to their first World Series appearance since 1945. He took a 3-0 lead into the eighth inning against Florida in Game6 of the NL Championship Series before the Marlins rallied for eight runs and an 8-3 victory at Wrigley Field.

Florida also won Game 7 in Chicago and went on to beat the New York Yankees in the World Series.

It's hard watching a home game in HD than watching it live.
But then again, money talks.
