E-40 by all mean's was my favorite rapper. I loved his eairly albums due to his originality. But i think since the Hyphy Movement came E-40 became more ofa follower than a trend setter. If theirs any E-40 fan's out their let me know how you feel, and check out my cousin's group on myspace/Oaklandzuuthey from the town.

Why yall laughing at that? E-40 was one of the most underated rapper's to ever be in the game. To keep it real he's the reason why everybody that youthink is hot with fasinating wordplay like Lil Wayne and etc. is hot. They all learned the game from E-40 and Too-Short. Yall better check out E-40 firstalbum's mailman, In a mjor way. and etc you guy's will see if you listen the stuff he's talking about back then in the 90's Jay-Z and them arejust now talking about it.

40 never should have changed his formula at all, some of the new tracks i've heard are just garbage.

iono....that old school mob sound e-40 was just the greatest.

I don't know what ya'll talkin' about. My Ghetto Report Card had the trunk knockin' for about a month.

? And then have the nerve to call thenext man an "idiot"?

Y'all trippin'. Hip Hop owes about half of it's slang to E-40. 40 is nice with the words.

He may not be your flavor. I am an East Coast dude. But I can definitely respect dudes putting in work, making their mark etc.

40 kept the Bay on the map after Short put it on. Dudes' wordplay is very sick. It's his delivery I can't $@@+ with.

Some of y'all like to hate for no reason. Do your homework.

As for him selling out, I don't really $@@+ with his music enough to call it.

i like 40 but the guest appearances on his albums are always people hot around that time... I wouldn't be surprised if he got solja boy on this upcommingalbum

Yea but he still shows love to the Bay. I remember the last album had Rick Rock, Federation, Keak Da Sneak, Bosko......he never turned his back on the Bay. Tosay he sold out is a bit harsh. HE just adapted to the current music scene.

Yeah, we're trippin', but you seem to be all there in the head by thinking rap owes half its slang to E-40. The irony.

E-40 is trash. The only song I can listen to from him without getting sick of it is Some Things'll Never Change. That's it.

To answer the OP's question, No, i dont think he sold out. I think he is trying to stay relevant in the game by switiching up his style while still seekingthat one big crossover hit that will make him mainstream money before he calls it quits. Personally, i think his older albums are better (federal, mailman,in a major way, hall of game, element of suprise, charlie hustle, breaking news) than the stuff he has been releasing for the last few years (my ghettoreportcard and grit and grind). The albums arent bad, but there are less and less songs on each album that i like compared to his earlier bodies of work.

I agree, i feel 40 should've stuck to the script if Pac was around i couldn't see him making hyphy song's. I feel personally 40 is thevoice of the bay but he tried to pick up off where Mac Dre(r.i.p)left off at. Due to his past album's ima always have respect for 40, but im just notfeeling too much of the new song's like wake it up, and brake your ankle's sound like snap your fingaz. But he ain't never lost his lingo he stillgot it lyrically.

No. If you like bay !$%!, that's cool. But don't go around and proclaim that Mac Dre is the greatest rapper ever....that's beyondridiculous. And that's what a lot of Bay heads claim.

No, not at all. The most annoying %$%$ about Bay heads is this:

They all ask me "why do you like New York music so much? You're not from New York, you're from the Bay. Stop hatin' on Bay music."

That's why I say that the majority of Bay music heads (well atleast the ones I know) are straight-up idiots. I have an open-ear for music. If it'sgood, I like it. If it sucks, I strongly dislike it. I don't take into consideration where the artist is from. And that's what irritates the %##% outtame with Bay heads. They have an obligation to claim that Bay music is the best just because they live there. What the %##% kind of logic is that? They fail tounderstand the simple concept of my idea that "I like what sounds good, I don't give a %##% where the music is from. It just so happens that themajority of good artists are from New York, and it just so happens that 99% of Bay artists are trash." That seems to be an outlandish form of logic tothem.

And that is why I say that I can't have a legit rap convo with Bay folks. Most of them think the same, and most of them are stuck in the same box.

Pac proved to the world that the westcoast/bay has some dope artist and some of the most hated on in the game when he left the eastcoast to make his home inthe Bay. Now i listen to all music i don't discriminate by coast or city talent is talent to me. But it dont stop at a majority of New York rappers aregood artist, becuz a majority of the west and south artist are good at what they do too.
