T.I. says the video for "Swing Ya Rag" - an undeniably mammoth musical moment on Paper Trail - is one for the vaults. Tip and Swizz Beatz shot the video many weeks ago, around the same time as the "What Up, What's Haapnin' " clip. However, the two companies mentioned in the song were not excited about the prospect of full-on visuals for the record.

"We did it, and it came out hot," Tip said of the video. "Louis [Vuitton] and Gucci started trippin' about it. They were saying we were infringing, in one way or another. They weren't happy about it. They didn't want it to come out. But it's hot, though." One thing the King of the South doesn't need is another headache. He's planning his tour and shooting the film "Bone Deep." Still, the fans would love it if the lost video mysteriously hit the Net on a blog or something.

Tip has moved on, and a video for "Live Your Life" with Rihanna is on the way shortly. There's also still hope for a "Swagger Like Us" video and a major performance.

"I hope we can pull that off," Tip said of a video featuring song co-stars Jay-Z, Kanye West and Lil Wayne. "That was the definite intentions initially. We have to see when everybody is all available. I'm available whenever they are." ...

Damn why they trippin free promo lol but cant wait for the swagger like us vid if/when it comes out.

Obviously...The companies are among a long list of businesses who do not want to market to African-Americans

S.L.U. is not coming out as a video I can gurantee it, Hov's version has a better chance of coming out than this one. Where T.I. did $@$* up was "LiveYour Life" should have been out already by time the video is out the single would have lost it's luster.

Its a difference between marketing to African Americans and having 7 time felons promote your stuff through rap songs.
Gucci and Louis Vuiton are pretigious companies they dont need Tips "free promotion" if anything they probably would have lost money if the videoblew up

I completely understand where you're coming from but I think you're reaching with that last statement about losing money

Im saying us black people have trends where in white culture they tend to stay with certain brands for the long haul if Fox News would have did asegment on TIP and Swing You Rag their stocks would have went down and there global consumers (majority non hip hop listeners) would have been turned off.Menawhile after a year or two Hip Hop would have moved on to another trend and Gucci and LV would have lost. I might be reading to much into this but thesedang business classes got me over analyzing stuff

The thing is your not, everything your saying I agree with 100% it makes sense.

I don't think that TI is that influential...

global consumers (majority non hip hop listeners)

these consumers even now don't know/care/want to know about TI.... hes so far under their radar that it would not impact sales on these brands.

there may be a slight spike in purchases but shhh lets be honest, if you listen to TI now and can't afford (real) Gucci & LV.... whats the song gonnado?

Uhhh don't see a problem with it, its called keeping the integrity of your brand. LV is very well known as a luxury brand that likes to keep its imageprestigious. I mean you can't say they don't wany people in the urban community rocking their pieces because they have Pharrell designing shades andKanye working on designing a shoe. We all see what happens to brands that become bastardized ie Burberry so i think this is more of keeping the integrity oftheir brand rather than them not wanting us to wear it.
