Will Kobe's line last and be succesful long after he retires like Jordans?
Kobe will be retired way before Lebron, and Lebron will still be playing for years to come, so based on future value, Lebron wins.
Giving Kobe bigger deals or having him promote lines now, is to get value out of him while he is still actively playing and playing well.

edit: why am I replying to a 3year old thread. I fail...

Its funny to see perspective now 4 years later....

I wonder what everyones thoughts are now. Designers have changed on all shoes and approaches have changed on the lines as well.

To hypebeast. Before this year Kobes where way more affordable. People fail to realize not everyones into kicks like we are.

kobe shoes sell waaaaaaaaay more. and they're everywhere. unlike lebrons. even players in the league kno. tons more players rock kobe's over lebrons. only people wearing lebrons are mario chalmers and mo williams lol. they were already way more comfortable, and still alot more affordable.

LeBrons just haven't done anything for a lot of consumers since the Zoom LeBron II. The IV was pretty cool, but still not appealing to as many people as the II. They're just not universal enough. I'm not into the military look (all of his shoes seem to look like some sort of combat boot), and I'm not 6'8", 280+lbs, so LeBron just don't make sense for me to purchase.

Now I don't buy Kobe's because I can't stand Kobe, but I'd much rather play in a pair of Kobe's than LeBron's.

i think after this whole 180 price tag on the kobe vii the line is gonna take a hard hit. thats just my opinion. its starting to fall in line with the lebron sig and selling off hype.

i dont know what nikes bestsellers were the past few years but i know alot of kobe shoes hit the outlets and went on sale. the kobe vii supreme was a bad idea imo

they should have just stuck with what made the shoe a great performance shoe.

id say kobe over lebron. winning 5 rings thus far makes him a champion i.e. jordan .lebron hasn't done it yet but lebron is a money maker for sure.

don't want to get into long details but here is my take. international market, kobe takes it. in the near future lebron will have the opportunity. he just has to win championships.

I believe the Kobe IV, V, and VI out sold the previous Lebron models especially since Kobe dominates China.

I'm sure the IX's are outselling the VII's, but never underestimate the Chinese market.

It's just like XBOX360 vs PS3. PS3 doesn't outsell XBOX in the states, but PS3 murders it in the bigger countries overseas.

And SMH @ reviving a damn 3 year old thread.

Exactly what I would've said. Plus just in my area I see 5 pairs of kobes for each pair of lebrons.

I know Lebron gets paid more than Kobe but I really think Kobe sells more. Because I think Nike sees Lebron as more of a "chosen one" type of marketing oppurtunity but I see like 4 Kobes for every one Lebron shoe

The fact that this thread is so old is def throwing ppl off.

Right now...Kobes line is more relevant to basketball players. Lebron's line is more relevant to collectors/hypebeasts although Kobe has tons of that crowd as well.

just look at the sales numbers kobe is global, lebron isn't.  plus lebrons a douche and kobe isn't....  derrick rose sells more than lebron by a lot

It is true that I see wayyy more Kobe's than Lebron's. But, idk I still feel like LeBron is the main guy for Nike right now. But on the other hand, Kobe kills it in China and Asia so....

Didn't the lebron 8 outsell the kobe 6 last year? i forgot but i dont think it was even close. Lebron >>
edit: didn't read previous posts first
