i'd have to go with kobe right now. his popularity is off the charts right now especially after his leading the u.s.a. team. his jerseys are #1 in asia andeurope. he plays for a bigger market team and he's already got the chips.

Only reason why he's somewhat marketable is because he plays for LA aka 2nd biggest city in the states.

well for rite now nike is giving lebron more of the attention giveing more hype to his shoes giveing him a special box and all ,but i see kobe creepin andtakeing over the hype. if he gets another mvp and a championship this year.. sorry to say but its over lebron..

Without a doubt lebron is carrying nike on his back with the support of kobe lebron james after tiger woods is the most marketable player in the world I dontwant to bring it up but Kobe's rape charges hurt him in a marketing aspect. On the court i would say kobe is better but in terms of being marketable lebronhands down. I work at Champs and we sell out of Lebron Shoes and gear the demand for kobe just isnt as high period

over the last 3 years ive ony seen 2 people wear kobes besides myself (kobe 1 and kobe 3)

Here in NYC, I seen 3 people including myself rockin' the Kobe 3. I seen tons of men, women, and children wearing LeBron shoes. Lebron V, Soldier II, andso forth.

lol here in LA everyone has Kobes... at my league i play in eveyrone has kobe 3's and hyperdunks

Real talk here EVERYTHING about Lebron on and off the court has been HYPE.
Ever since he was in high school his game on the court has been HYPED up by ESPN, SI SLAM, and all of the major media.
Off the court he's been HYPED up by NIKE, Sprite, and other major brands.
I've never liked any of his signature shoe or clothing line. His shoes IMO all look like they're boots.

My two cents. How many shoes does Lebron have? The LB signature, Soldier line, ambassador line, zoom power, etc. How many shoes does Kobe have? 1 and a 1/2 forthe Hyperdunk? So who is Nike favoring?

I don't know what your definition of hype is but is every athlete who endorses a product and has commericals being "hyped"?

Well, they use Kobe to debut new Nikes, but they're not signature shoes.. Yes he has his own line, but it's small compared to LeBrons... LeBron'sline reminds me of Jordans line, mutiple kicks, clothing and accessories (bags, watches). Kobe has just 1 sig shoe and some clothing.

Ok my bad. Let me put it another way. Lebron has more products and more marketing allocated to him than Kobe. The NBA season has begun and I have yet to see anad for Kobe's new shoe. Whereas the Lebrons is already in full swing. Same as for last year. There was a lot more commercial ads for the Lebron V and cometo think of it I did not
see a single one for the Kobe III. I am not counting the House of Hoops commercial. Based on this alone you have to think that NIKE is valueing Lebron more.
Nike has nothing to do with Jersey sales in China because Nike does not make official NBA jerseys. Actually sales of official jerseys here in the states Kobeis number 1 among active players. But this market like I said before does not belong to Nike.

Look I give credit where credit is due sure getting to the the NBA Finals 2 years ago was great but then again what did he do in the Finals? Gotswept & shot under 40% that year in the finals. Also if Lebron and the Cavs were playing in the Western Conference there is no way he makes it to theFinals or even gets passed the 1st round with that Cavs team or his current team. Just look at the type of record the Warriors had last year and they stillcouldn't make it out of the West last season.
What I mean by hype is the guy has talent and sure he puts up great stats every season but then again does he play lock down D or has he made all defensivesquads like Kobe?Is his jumper, midrange jumper game, and 3 point range as good as Kobe's? Has he made clutch shots or even tried clutch shots when thegame is on the line? Heck Lebron shot 71% from the FT line last year and I still see him tossing up plenty of bricks when he's at the charity stripe whengames are close down the line. There are center's in the NBA who have better FT shooting %'s than him.
