Earlier, my friend told me that this song sucks and it was too "strange". I was just like

Damn right. I enjoy their music a lot since it's so obviously Tool influenced and it's great workout music. "Wonder What'sNext" and the one you mentioned are both very solid albums and "Vena Sera" has some highlights. Funny thing is my girl likes and listens tothem way more than I do, but my favorites of theirs include:

"Vitamin R"
"Comfortable Liar"
"The Red"
"Send the Pain Below"
"Safer Waters"
"Antisaint"
"Panic Prone"
"Still Running"
"The Clincher"
"Bend the Bracket"

How can Chevelle and Tool be placed in the same sentence!?

Chevelle (IMO) is just some generic rock band.
Now Tool...they're great, very creative and moody sound. The bass is ill. Opiate is a great song.

And yo, Any Primus Fans on here?

^Blahhhhhhhhhhhhh I tried listening to Sailing the Seas of Cheese and almost puked. I had heard so many good things about that album and I couldn't bareit!

Nope. They're one of the bands I'm told to check out, and just haven't yet.

What would you recommend?

i agree that this thread is becoming way too similar to the rock post that is stickied at the top.

i think the best solution is this: can we get the music forum divided into different genres? kind of like the regional and buy/sell forums are subdivided.

in the past, i've always just gone straight to the rock post at the top because it's the only one that i can find. occasionally i'll gather up somepatience and flip through a few pages of rap & hip-hop threads just to see if there's something in there that catches my attention. but in the end, alot of good posts die a very quick death because they get drowned out.

who can we ask to get this done? anyone feel this would be a good solution?

I personally Prefer No Kill No Beep Beep but to be honest you should just get all of their albums. Their last album Power was so dope in such a different way.I forgot how much I loved them until I actually had time to start putting a lot of my vinyl on my iPod the last couple weekends. Once I get a break over thewinter I'm going to go home and get all my records and start ripping and not leave for days.

lately,

hootie and the blowfish - live in charleston, and cracked rear view
incubus - morning view
coheed and cambria - second stage turbine blade

Because it's so obvious that one of Chevelle's major influences, guitar wise and riff construction at least, was Tool. Pete should really send checksto Adam Jones after every album Chevelle releases for directly spawning his playing.

As for Primus, you damn right. Les Claypool is always enjoyable. He covered Pink Floyd's entire "Animals" album live and nailed it.

"Blvd. Nights", "Natalie Portman", and "11/11" are my favorite Team Sleep songs, and I could go on for days about Deftones. Hopefully Chi fully recovers, he was in a bad car crash and is currently in a coma...
