Official Toronto - Outlet and Store report

i will agree that holts dun know what the fak they doing cause this they first real release of Yeezys.

but employees ain't eating any of these... thats for sure.

I'll frankly be happy when the sneaker culture fades away from the mainstream again. I met some other old school heads on the snkr xprss last week and we were reminiscing about the days when you could pre-order you Js day before a release or even when line ups started at 6am the morning of release. Back when GDFT had retro jordan's sitting on the shelves for at least a few days post release. I'm done with these 72hr camp outs, backdooring, shady raffles, ghost chairs, etc. As with all trends, these kids come in and basically ruin everything. It's really making it hard to stay passionate as a true sneakerhead these days.

/End of old man rant.

I wish it will fade but I don't see it happening soon...

Not sure who said it but for every 1 collector who retires there is 10 new collectors/sneakerheads born...

Only way to avoid these annoyances is to flood the market with all these "hyped" shoes

No resale = no hype = no problems = happy REAL shoe collector

But doesn't stop other stores -- non HOLT -- employees from accessing the building before the public.

Check FB, someone was kicked out at 430 for lining up and then asked to comeback at sunrise and when he came back even earlier (620) just to find out that there were already 30 people in line. So in less than 2 hours, where no one should be lining up, 30 people managed to line up

Sucks to be him but he said there were people who were infront of him who lined up earlier :smh:

I couldn't agree more.

Flood the market with all the "hyped" shoes.....they will stll Sell no matter what and it will hopefully put an end to all the nonsense of resellers and overnight camp outs.

Jordan Brand will still have a huge profit margin even with mass producing a shoe.

naw, they only allow one coupon code for a purchase. kinda how it is online

Let's be honest -- if sneaker brands flooded the market rather than build hype - very few people would buy anything.  If there were Yeezys sitting on every store shelf in an FSR -- people would not be paying $285 MSRP for them.  Part of the 'value' of the shoe is in the exclusivity -- in more real world terms, "If I don't like them, I can easily flip them for a profit".

All the brands obviously wants resellers buying up their stock -- it guarantees sell-outs.  Money is money to these corporations.

Obviously, they can make more money by producing more 'hyped' shoes -- but it's a fine line.  I'm sure most of us remember Foamposites were sought after before Nike killed their own market by oversaturating with a billion wack CWs.

Imagine if the WC4s came out 10 years ago, even if we adjusted for inflation - no one would be paying ~$300 MSRP for them.

Not really...maybe to the new collectors...but not to older collectors.

I was buying shoes - Js and non-Js -- because I want to be like Mike or wear the kicks players are wearing or I just like the look of them. So to say the no one would buy is totally untrue. I think older collectors would have the same reason on why they started collecting.

Ya - I agree, I edited my original post.  Changed "no one" to "very few" -- yup, there are hardcore guys that will keep collecting.  But we make up a tiny portion of the market nowadays.

The good old days for me was going to the mall long after release date of a shoe and waiting for the regular price to drop $30-50 dollars or more, having to decide which colorway to buy because being able to only afford one colorway at a time.

I remember buying the AJ13 at Athletes World and I couldnt decide between a pair of Flints or the He got games. Price for those on sale at the time was 149.99. Around the same time the Athletes World outlet at Dixie Mall had the White/Red 13's for 119.99 and Playoff 12's on Clearance for 99.99. Foams werent big back then and they were always on clearance racks. Who would have thought Bred/Royal AJ 1's would be such a hot item now. They couldnt even unload those for 69.99 on clearance at Footlocker/Champs and Athelets World and now people are reselling them ***** for over 1k.

I've never lined up or camped overnight for a pair of shoes. Never have never will. Thats time wasted that you're never going to get back. For what? A pair of shoes that you walk on at the end of the day. There's more to life than that.

LOL foreal, employees nowadays get everything, I don't even know if "raffles" are that legit, I bet they raffle of a few pairs and keep the rest to themselves. It's bs but it is what it is.
Depends on the store...  I've met store employees who don't get pairs handed to them like that.  They either have to line up themselves or they have to get lucky with raffles.  There are still some honest retailers out there

Not as out of hand as the housing market here though.

Do you get VIP Platinum vouchers by email too? I find details of this program to be super vague and the Footlocker CS line to be not very useful. I thought it was a $20 for every $300 spent, however, I just spent $800 in one transaction at 306 Yonge and only received one $20 voucher printed on my receipt and I never get emails with the reward vouchers aside from the $10 off $50 when I signed up.

Champs seems to be even worse with their VIP program, I recently had two $300 transactions put on that card, they scanned my card each time (and the member number showed up on the receipt), no $20 coupon printed on the receipts and no email either.

It's hard to spend these vouchers too, since launch items are excluded and for other releases, $20 off a $200 sneaker is really not much, I always end up buying a pack of socks with my $20 rewards, can't really complain $2.65 for a pack of Nike Dri-Fit socks

I know it's werid to ask this but where can I find some sneaker shields or force fields in Toronto?

Actually I heard Nike takes 10% of stock and raffles it to the employees, but I doubt that's the case with private sneaker shops like Livestock and such.

I can't speak for all stores but the number of boutiques I know people or have relationships with I can say for the most part when it comes to limited drops, all shoes are raffled to the public. Or, a small percentage of stock is raffled to employees.

The key is balance, employees should be allowed to get any sneaker they want that's available at the store. Obviously if the stock or quantity is small then only a small % should be given to employees.

The vouchers are at the bottom of the receipt.  THe only ones I ever get by email are birthday ones.  You get a $20 voucher if you spend over $200.  So if you want multiple vouchers, better to split your purchases up.  You can use it on launch products but just nothing crazy limited.  I've been able to use them on retro Jordans.

At least you're not paying a homeless person to line up 2 weeks in advance to get a prime-location condo, wonder how'd they react to ghost chairs? lol
Ghost chairs happen in new builds.. lol   Blew my mind first time I saw it.

Now, talking about the "good old days" of the sneaker world... I remember shelves of bred 1's at huge discounts.. just sitting.  lol, corgishoe had the right idea back then.
