Idk if you really want to buy something in poor condition as a gift. I'd probably check rolexforums or contact Icebox or Goldensun and see if they have one that dropped in the toilet for cheap.

with $3500 it is definitely hard but there are some mint 1980s and 90s date just out there that are good watches, you just need to search well and find something in mint condition. The bracelet can always be polished, just make sure the bezel etc looks good, good luck.

When searching for a watch I thought $3500 would be okay, then came to the harsh reality that I had very few options and that 36mm was looking real small on my wrist
