That looks real good.

I was thinking about getting a 14k 240 gram 11mm cuban chain for $ 7,000 next year , but you put me to shame with that beast. I love chunky cubans

Sorry if I missed this in here but what is a fair price per gram for 14kt gold and 18kt gold on herringbone chains?  I keep posting questions without any cop pics but that should be changing soon just don't want to overpay for the chain

found an old photo of me from when I was about 19/20.... (2004/05)

30" white gold ball chain with a iced out cross... parents had bought me a car, my dad paid my phone bill and credit cards, had a decent job paying me $400 a week in downtown miami and I put a white gold chain on layaway in july and was able to cop by november.

also rocking a whitegold and onyx ring thats circled in yellow and a fake daytona i bought in china town....

I miss that chain, some kids broke in my house and stole it.

For 14k im good with paying 33 - 40/gram on a new piece from a jeweler (a couple bucks more if i had to have the piece). Used i wouldn't pay more than 30/gram. People who make those miami cubans can charge abit less since they make them in house with scrap gold that they probably paid 10 - 15/ gram for. And for 18k, well, do the math.

what jewelers are you considering for the lion?

my jeweler replaced the eyes with larger diamonds for free.

as a bit of a story, i bought the lion elsewhere, and i wanted to upgrade the eyes.  he said send it to me, and he'll let me know the pricing.  he then did all the work and supplied the diamonds.

as background, he and i have had a relationship for some time -- i've provided business for years, and he's provided fair pricing as well as top quality work, but he does things like this every now and then to show he cares. i can't overstate how important it is to find a jeweler you trust if you're passionate about jewelry.  i hate having to haggle every time or have the feeling someone is trying to take you. as another example, i bought my mom and lady some larger eternity bands, and he upgraded the bands to platinum from white gold for free -- wasn't part of the negotiation. these little things in combination with fair pricing means a great deal in my equation when choosing a jeweler.  in return, i've bought/referred $XXXXX and approaching $XXXXXX business.  and for those who are wondering, i have professional level gear for checking quality and authenticity of stones.

anyhow, and i'm digressing, i find *a lot* of jewelers try to take folks for as much as possible. i find this short sighted.  i would recommend -- in the absence of a trusted jeweler, you consider buying a couple of loose stones off of ebay or blue nile, and you can have them set locally. you can pm me directly, and i can estimate what you should expect to pay.

hope that helps.

oh wow the site I was looking at had 14k at $59-$60/gram.  What a rip off!  Things just got a lot cheaper lol...I'll be going with 18k in that case.

So when I go to the jeweler should I just be straight forward tell him that I'm willing to pay $x per gram?

Depending on the city you live in it can be hard to find decent prices. I would go with online. Try jewelrycircle.com or danieljewelryinc.com. They are in L.A & Miami but have great prices. If you don't like them you can try Golden Sun and see what he can do for you. Around 40-$45/gram isn't too bad if you really like the piece. Especially when there is jewelry stores selling 14k for 80-90/Gram
