Our very own Hong Kong Sneaker Guide.

What's good everyone! my parents are going to HK next week. What stores there are the best to shop for Jordans? Do they have a store that's similar to flight club where they sell OG jordans?

tell your parents to check out the sneaker street. fa yuen street in mongkok. when i was there last july i didnt see OG jordans just retros from the past 2 years. prices were also quite expensive
love is taking the air less travelled.

^ thanks. are all the stores in fu yuen street legit? my parents might buy the fake ones since they don't know anything about Jordans..haha

Hi, going again to HK in April. Anyone seen Nike dunk bandaids on Fa Yuen Street lately and how much do they charge in $US? Thanks so much.

^ I went in 2005. Make sure you get your shots (Tetnus, Hep A, etc). Don't drink the water...buy bottled water! Depends on your restaurant setting, bring napkins!!! Most places don't have toilet paper! Go to Fa Yuen street for sneakers and such. Check out Lady's Market and Gentlemen's Market. Make copies of your passport, ID, credit cards, etc. Police can stop you at all times and ask for ID. Secure your wallet and/or passport at ALL times. Be very cautious of pick pockets. Make sure you bring your US to HK electric socket converter. Wear dry fit shirts cause it's humid. Use the MTR train system. Need an octopus card though. Very efficient transportation.

If you know someone there, try to get them to convert your dollars to their dollars at their bank. Better rate I guess. If you do use your credit card, inform them ahead of time that you'll be abroad. There is also a charge for conversion. Not sure how to get around that without bringing more cash. Get ready to spend money. Not sure if you speak Cantonese but the last time I went, the cabby heard us speak English and try to take us for a ride. >:

Went to Macau last time by Hydrofoil. I thought Macau was boring. Good Portuguese custard though. Had to take off cap at Sand's. :\

Try to see if you can go through an agency to book side trip to different places (Malay, Thai, Japan, mainland China, etc). Check out Victoria Peak. Disneyland opened recently. Check out the small neighboring islands off Hong Kong. It's nice and serene there.

Try out food by street venders. Razor clams are great. Food is excellent there. You can really eat like a King for cheap. $3 gets you noodles, toast, egg, spam and a cold tea. It's cheaper to eat out than to cook.

Sorry for the long read but have a great time!

Sincerely,
Frommers

Just got back from HK. I don't know if they have other branches but I suggest going to Sports House and CPU in Causeway Bay. Its on the 2nd floor of Windsor House right in front of Park Lane and Ikea. I was able to get purple pigeons and un-tiffany's in CPU for only 560 HKD each! They also had alot of other shoes there and most of them were on sale. I also got a lacoste bag and some Levi's at 50% off. They also gave me a discount card so my shoes had an extra 5% off.
Need clothes manufactured? www.xii-ii.com

Threadless Tees!

Hey guys. I was wondering where I should go in Hong Kong to look for Concord and Space Jams.

Thanks a lot.

Haha. You're probably right.

Although, I'm not getting Concords for myself.

Thanks Kingcrux, I just landed in Hong Kong a few hours ago. HK is definitely poppin.

Hey Crux, so I went to Hua Yuan Street (pinyin spelling), and the King Wah Centre had Concords but dude was sellin em for 4200HKD. Ridiculous.

Can you suggest any other spots of interest? I finished Fa Yuen and King Wah.

Hong Kong is really really hot during the summer. Lol. When was the last time you were here? This is my first time.

random question for the HK NTers: are there any services that will ship shoes from HK to the US? I've used bidservice from japan, but wonder if there is anything like that for HK. I'm looking for some UK New Balances that i see on the New Balance HK site, but they only ship to HK!

Any help would be much appreciated.

Hey everyone. I'm in Shenzen right now but I'll be in Hong Kong for a day before I return to the US and I don't know much about the area (neither does my boss). I'm staying at the Marco Polo Prince hotel near the Ferry Terminal. Are the any spots located in the vicinity of where I am staying? I'm trying to to go back home empty handed!! Thanks to all who can help!
