I know this is my first post here, I've been lurking for years on & off, but the Nike VANDAL is my ALL-TIME GRAIL favorite Nike shoe (From the 80's Era). I've been TRYING to get this EXACTLY colorway since their first retro back in 2002. I think they only released em in Europe, Japan, Germany in other foreign countries, but I'm NOT really sure. Anyways, The Terminator  is one of, if not my FAVORITE movie of ALL-TIME. I was born in 1987, so I actually seen T2 first. I was HOOKED on that movie to SOOO HARD that my Dad brought "The Making of Terminator 2: JD" on VHS (OG know about that & the Beta lol) where they showed certain clips from the first & I eventually was able to see the first movie when my Dad decided to hook up the Beta VHS and he had it on a tape with the another 80's classic "The Soldier's Story". Anyways getting away from the topic, I fell in love with those shoes the VERY first time I seen them. Around '94, '95 when my Mom's brought me the "Nike Air Mission in the White/Royal colorway I was hooked and Instantly became a sneaker head. I was on a quest to find out Nike name of the shoes heavy but to no avail. A lot of the people said they were Air Force One's & I watched that movie RELIGIOUSLY and knew that there weren't, but I knew they had similarities. It's wasn't until around '98 or '99 when I got the Internet & found out the name of them on this website that had ALL of the early 70's-late 80's basketball shoes & had been on the look for em since. When they were finally going to be retro'd in 2002, the sample pics had the Dunk/Big Nike sole/Sample Jordan 1 sole on them and was HEATED. Luckily, they went back to the OG sole and was able to get my mom to get me the Sliver/Red & Black Colorway from Footaction.

This is not my pic, but I still have them technically DS cause I only wore em once. (Had a FEW pair of Dunks in the rotation at the time) I really had nothing to wear with em @ the time, and I had ZERO gear. It wasn't until 2005 when I was finally able to get a job & start buying/collecting em. and I have about 20 pairs of Vandals now. (Will post them ALL in DUE TIME.) I was angry had **** around 2007-08 when they STARTED coming out with SUPER WACK COLORWAYS **** near KILLING the shoe ALTOGETHER. They came out with the VNTG packs but I slept cause they gave em that wack vintage treatment/ smh I regret it now cuz I like the OG shape/form 1000x til INFINITY over the Air Force 1 Canvas look they gave the modern retros. I REALLY DISLIKE the changes that gave this retro with the bottom sole being white. & the gray/silver line in the heel tab area. smh But I guess this will just have to do for now. I'm still on the hunt for the 2002 retros which was executed better IMHO,

Outside of the AF1 shape/form and the Nike Logo being black on the Velcro strap. So if anybody has em DS in a size 12, get @ me ASAP!

Until then, I'm trying to have everybody (Real OG Vandal Headz 4 real) eatin'

That's all I can find for now. Hopefully they will release at more stores, but bein' a lab release they just might be on that EXTRA limited ****.

I know that the Sonics & Wolverines colorway retro'd in 2008 but they came with the WACK *** VNTG treatment. smh

it would be REALLY nice to see all colorways retro'd in the OG canvas/nylon Supreme moon boot material.

Especially the Dr. Emit "Doc" Brown colorway seen here in this OLD Cosby show clip.

                      I never really cared for the AF1, the shoe itself is just too **** bulky tight and OVERALL uncomfortable.

I know what you mean with Nike changing the soles from black to white, but I'm happy these at least have more of an OG shape and aren't so boxy like all recent retros. Its always a give and take from Nike. Hope more vandals drop not for the money grab tho. There are a lot of dope OG colorways.

Also those supreme suede lo need to come out in OG form. I remember having an all white pair of Nikes similar to these in early 2000s. Can't remember the model name but they were . Like the nike version of the Puma GV special, maybe they were the supreme lo.

I agree. That is one big flaw to this shoe. Let us know how the dying process goes. Never customized my shoes, but I would like to make it black as well.

My pair should be coming in tomorrow. Really excited. All the pics I see (even those old school catalog pics) make the silhouette look so sleek. Hope they don't disappoint in person. These will be my first Vandals so it'll be a completely new experience. I'm not an OG-Vandal-head but silver heel lining is growing on me.

I would also be interested in your experience. Also thought of changing the heal part "back" to black.

As it's silver I'm wondering what color to use. The silver actually could just be a kind of covering which is not soaked into the fibre. Maybe angelus would do a good job?

I'm so happy that these finally came back in canvas.

Really hope for the darkblue/yellow & green/yellow version to be coming up, too.

Got my pair! They look just like the online pictures. No photography tricks at all. Still looking sleek. The metallic silver is a little more metallic than I was expecting, but it's minimal enough not to be too loud. No special Nikelab box but they do call it an SP.

Took a comparison pic with the recently released AJKO Sport Blue. Toe box is definitely slim, which I like. The Nike logo on the back is distressed on both of mine. Not sure if this is an OG touch or just trying to make it look more vintage. Haven't tried them on yet, but will update with thoughts on that later.

Overall on first impression looking at it, quality looks pretty good, but then again it's a no-frills canvas shoe so not much to mess up on.

Edit: Just tried them on. They are comfortable! More comfortable than the AJKO (which hurt the balls of my feet after awhile when I wore them TTS). I went up 0.5 on these and there is about 1/4 inch room in the toe box. I would probably recommend TTS, but 0.5 up won't be bad. The heel and tongue are very cushioned, so that will add some security to the fit if you go 0.5 up. I still kind of like the silver heel lining, but I will be curious to see how some of you customize it to black. Definitely satisfied with my purchase. Compare these at $100 to $140 (maybe now $150) for AJKO's...and it's a no brainer.

But, if not it's the Black/Red/White colorway released in 2009. I slept on them, and Sneakerhead.com was the only site I knew that sold em. I know there not an OG colorway but they were NICE AS **** IMO.

I swear I HOPE that Nike isn't doin' this INTENTIONALLY to get these lil' kids & teens "emotionally invested" to this form of the shoe. Thus wanting & thankin' that this is the OG look and ACCEPTING nothin' else. If so, I (We) my never see the OG form/shape/design AGAIN...

I PRAY to GOD that that's not the case. If so, I might actually call it quits with shoes altogether (I know they'll PULL me back in.). & you NEVER know with NIKE, especially with the way they've been STR8 BUTCHERING 90's retros lately. Damn, they look good. That toebox is so slim and I love it. I'm liking the distressed Nike logo too.

Glad I went TTS. Will post my impressions when I get my pairs on Tuesday. Overall very satisfied with this whole release. Reminds me of the good ol day.

Thats how you know the costumer designer for T5 didnt pay attention to detail. They requested the shoe, and Nike trolls them by making small changes. They couldve at least dyed the back part black for the movie, seeing thats what he wore in the original. Its because they arent shoe freaks like us, lol. Minor details like that dont matter to hollywood, as long as they have the same colorway.

Im pretty sure Nike is the Biggest Troll of all time. The changes they make, along with JB as well, make no sense.

I bet the designer knew exactly what changes were being made. A lot of times, they want to go back to the basics with a little flare. I think the white outsole and the silver heel lining were just small enough to be different from the original but still retain the overall look. It also gives it a bit more of a "premium" NikeLab feel. Still not a deal breaker for me by any means.

I wore em last night to go watch the movie, and came home disappointed. 1 the tone of the movie wasnt serious like it should have been and 2 the vandal killed my arches. I have low arches, and these didnt help. I tried flat insoles as well and no dice.

M marztharealist those OGs look dope. Can't wait to dye the silver heel tab to black. And the black sole looks good. Anyone else notice a bit of banana shape? I'm sure when they look good on feet.
