Here we are less than 2 weeks away from another Common album. His music isn't falling on deaf ears, because people really enjoy his product. Dude hasfound a way to keep himself relevant after all these years in the game. Longevity in hip-hop is one thing, but not making a fool out of yourself (Snoop) andstaying true to what you are, is another. I'm really looking forward to his new album and his future projects....

It's impressive but I don't really look for dudes music anymore to be honest. Last album of his I actually like was Like Water but respect to dude. Butdude still sold out a lil with those gap ads and car commercials.

even though he's had a up and down career he still ones on the illest to pick up a mic

I dont rock with Com much no more,

Gimme more Orange Pineapple Juice or Communism and I would, %#%% anything like ressurection cd and I'd bump it everyday
He still a Ill *@#%# , but just not my style no more

Appreciation, but he just now started getting really popular. Before people rode with Common for that underground feel, but now homey is everywhere and is oneveryones album.

That's what im saying. I'll do some commercials for gap if that means selling out.

I mean after those 20 years, he really hasn't made as much money as someone who was in the game for about 6-7...

So I can't blame him for a commercial or two.

When the $%%@ are people gonna stop caring about another man's money and start caring about his music?

I cant ever understand this thinking that is prevalent in the black community. So because he did a few commercials he sold out?! In fact ifthere ever was someone who didn't sell out it is Common. Dude does a ton of positive stuff for the community. Why does it matter how another man gets hismoney?! Hell if I was good at my craft and a reputable company asked me to do a few commercials to put some more money in my pocket then why wouldn't I?!

I didn't mean to switch the topic Double J but Common is definitely appreciated and one of my favorite hip-hop artists and is in my top 5 favorite rappers.

False.

I thought Be was one of Com's best albums. FF was also pretty good imo but i did get tired of it kind of fast. There's no denying that i would preferto have that vintage common back, Resurrection is one of my top albums all time, his whole feminist pride, respectful thing that Erykah put him on is cool, butleaves a lot to be desired.

there's nothing wrong with selling out, but def. making gap commercials = sell out, no doubt.

common is appreciated, even if he does make boring music nowadays.

i also find it funny that he went from lwfc, to electric circus, to be. either badu is the most powerful woman alive, or....

Badu is an old witch doctor, she be **!!*%% with %+%%%+ minds

please explain how doing a gap add is selling out, multiple people have said this, i don't see the logic

before electric circus came out, i can't picture common wearing the gap clothing.

maybe he did wear it, but i doubt it.

to use an extreme example, if dead prez did the same commericial, i would say the same thing.

there is nothing wrong with attaining more money.

^i would definitely say something if it was Dead Prez, but Com and Dead Prez styles aint exactly parallels. It's not like Com was rocking a scarf and somecozy #%% ear muffs, if i remember correctly, he was rocking a solid colored hoody with some jeans, nothing wrong with that, i just don't see anything wrongwith him wearing gap.

i mess with common. im just tired of people who dislike all commercial rap cling to common like he didn't sell out ages ago shucking and jiving for gap andMicrosoft.

Do you realize how many people do ads/commerciasl for products that they don;t use?! Who cares if he wore Gap clothing or not before he did thecommerical?! It is irrelevant....as someone else said please explain this logic to me.

Maybe I'm missing something, but I'm failing to see how doing a GAP commercial is selling out.

50 Cent = Vitamin Water commercials/acting
Mos Def = Acting
Jay Z = Budweiser & Heineken/HP
Pete Rock & CL Smooth = Sprite

and then to top it off....prolly your favorite rappers right here:

it goes on and on....

I don't get it...do people REALLY expect artists to NOT take endorsement deals? Is struggling like Joe Buddens what's really good? The money isright, and I don't blame these guys one bit for doing these ads.

it's only because it's the gap.

that's pretty much the only reason.

as backwards/worng as that may seem, it's reality. if i made some gap commercials, everyone would say the same about me. people wish not to admit herebecause common is still popular. when he makes another electric circus, we'll all admit then.

common has always been relevant. i'm 21 and can remember asking my uncles to play "take it EZ" over for me on the walkman.

i miss his old style, but it's nice to see him still in the game andgaining more recognition.

like i said before, there is nothing wrong with selling out

as an american, you are told from a young age to attain wealth

that is the american dream, just don't deny it
