my friend just got a new tv with some bunk coverage plan, which won't give him the coverage unless it cannot be fixed. he's thinking of breaking it onpurpose so he can get the coverage for it and get a new tv that doesn't keep malfunctioning. basically, how can you break a tv without making it look likeblatant abuse? i suggested smashing the screen or pulling the power plug, but that's obviously abuse. any ideas?

what about pouring water in the back? or would it be fine once it dried? i know cell phones are ok once they dry out?

Pour some water on it. trough the breathing holes, it should work like a charm

make sure it shorts out.

doesn't the damage have to be from natural causes? last summer, my mom accidentally broke my dad's new lcd, and they wouldn't cover it because itwasn't a natural cause. he had to buy a new tv

Try to consult an electrician or repairman on how to "naturally" break it. See if you can get it shorted.

I suggest you find a high-power outlet and plug it into that to surge it!
This is what I meant. Seems like your best shot at getting the deal your friend is looking for. I don't know any other ways that a televisioncan naturally die this quick.

please. you really don't believe THAT is why we have a bad economy, do you?

Don't freaking crack the screen, They'll just tell you the cant because that was accidental damage. If the TV has an HDMI port, just Jam one in therepurposely and move it around vilolently, but try to keep the damage not visible. Just tell them that input isnt working and you want a different Tv orsomething.

That's definitely not natural. You run the risk of breaking the port altogether by doing that, trust me I know
