True, but i definitely think a black man/woman who descends from former slaves would have a different perspective than someone who doesn't. On topic, thejoke was just that, a joke. It doesn't offend me personally but my problem is people not understanding how someone could be offended by it.

I'm hoping most understand why someone can find it offensive. But you can say that about almost any jokes in this day in age. Watch an episodeof Family Guy and you can find numerous jokes one may find offensive. Doesn't make it post worthy.

IMO people making light of things that are so taboo is a sign that we as a society are progressing. Black comedians crack on whites, whites on blacks, etc.Times are changing.

There's a difference between understanding a struggle that was shared by an entire race of people and making a joke about it, and disregarding it as awhole. That being said...it wasn't funny. But wasn't serious.
