Chicago used to be like that, Well it still is, Just not as bad.

I don't understand why NYC would be like that, Because y'all are always complaining about wanting NYC to come back to the spotlight in Hip-Hop...

Should be supporting your guys.

realest %*@@ I heard in a good min, just like that in The D....Ive had more than a few conversations with my N's about that...

I made a thread about this too basically, about why do we show more love to artists outside our city/region than local artists (particularly the south), whenthe south for the most part could less give a damn about what we doin. They not bumpin our %*@@ down there like that, but if you come up here, Gucci, Jeezy andthem N's is gettin played like they from here....

I remember the Summerjam '05, Rocafella was there (Bleek, YoungGunz, cant remember who else), and these N's ran thru some HITS. Me being the fan ofmusic that I am and that I grew up on a lot them songs, Im on a complete green light inside, but all my N's (about 12 deep) was on that 'Im too cool toeven give a sign that I feel yo ****', so I had to contain myself...

Very valid point.

This is the only reason why south (Atlanta, New Orleans, etc.) are relevent. People out there support their own artists to the death. It's all local love. But then when you get to the bigger cities, folks are just to cool to support they own.

Naw it's just the fact that, everyone outside of the south makes, terrible music. All because you use big words and mind blowing metaphors haha don'tmean you made a good song.

the stuff Joe said was real. __'s in NY are just too cool to throw they hands up or anything or support.

NY even dumbed down they records to Arab Money etc. and still not getting love from they own region

Hi Hater, Pop Champagne, And Arab Money = Big words/Mind-blowing metaphors?

Cuz that's Joey was talkin' bout. Dudes having legitimate club records and still not getting no love.

Yeah it does. Because I said it does. Who are you to decide what makes a good song?

Thats another problem with Hip Hop fans, that think because THEY don't like something, that its NOT good. Wrong!

Thats just how NY is . . . I mean all of our BIGGEST stars/legends dont really *$+! with NY like that anymore, and I mean that by sayin dudes got TOO big to just rock a show at Club Speed, I gotta go see Maino or Uncle Murda there and ninjas is WAAAAY to tuff to throw their hands up, its almost funny . . . How tuff were you when you bought the ticket?? And actually enjoyed the music enuff to go to a show, now you get here and wanna act like we in Rikers just grillin ninjas and schemin on ninjas #@+% . . .

Hot97 dont *$+! with local artists really, I mean ninjas cant even stand in front of Hot97 and hand out CDs, DJs aint allowed to accept CDs from people in front of the buildings like we put AIDS on a Compact Disc . . . So no NEW ninjas without MAJOR label backing can get his record played in his hometown . . . Its frustrating, sad, *$+! up, and everything else that would discourage a muh****a . . . Ninjas gotta leave NY to get noticed . . . That was UNHEARD of 10 (or even 5 years ago), ninjas used to come to NY to GET a deal, now ninjas come here AFTER they already get one. NY has fell off is MANY ways, people just lost all hope in a NY ninja being able to LEAD the new generation, and its prolly my NY bias, but I don't see hip hop being in the right direction without a NY ninja hand on the wheel . . . I'm sure all regions have that same feelin . . .

Sorry for the long post, just struck a nerve cause its a hopless attitude thats spreading throughout the tri-state that has talented artists not being given a fair oppurtunity . . . Being an NY ninja used to be a advantage (or selling point to a certain extent), now its a liability ;{

Look at LA, they got Stones Throw records. They aren't going platinum or nothing, but at the end of the day they make a good product and they have a goodreputation as a Hip Hop label. Since Hot 97 and all that @*%+ ain't working for local artists, I could see a label like Stones Throw being successful inNYC. Dudes gotta be innovative.

i wanna add though that this is a problem with rap music though...a reggaetton duke will SELL OUT a venue in NYC and have the crowd going nuts and you'llhave a artist with a HIGHER profile nationally openinng for him. only in NYC

I mean, Y'all did birth Hip-Hop no question, But I don't see how somebody else from another region couldn't lead the game as long asthey were true to the artform.

that #*@# aint mainstream... we talkin bout mainstream... nobody gives a %%@$ about backpack records...
You can make mainstream music with good vocabulary and metaphors...doesn't have anything to do with 'back pack'.

Just look at anybody who was maintained any type of longevity in the game.
