Joe Budden TV - **** New York

N_'s egos get outta hand...I remember they NY heavy hitters would do collabs all the time now can you really hear records like that? And I DOnt meanremixes, I mean records that are made in the stu...I'm not mad at the south but every since they've been poppin it seems like southerners extend theinvite better than the next man that reps the same burough as you...IDK i dont get it at all!

Im from Milwaukee and like Joey was saying I'm willing to bet we react to "pop champagne" better than NY!

On the Chicago side, I was referring to:

Ye - Who has been holding it down for 3 albums on a mainstream/global level, While at the same time delivering quality product. Whether you like it or not.808's & Heartbreaks is just the excuse haters been waiting for to write him off. I saw some N' in the Music forum say he wasn't a rapper...

Lupe - 2 Gold Albums in. One of the best, If not best pure lyricist of this current generation.

Common - 2 decades in. STILL relevant. Highly respected in all walks of Hip-Hop.

The crib been holding it down for some years now...As much as it may pain some people to admit. Our undeground scene is extremely promising as well.

As far as LA, Their current underground scene is positioning itself to really change the face of the West Coast. Pac Div, Blu and Dom etc. is a good lineup toaccomplish that.

I'm looking for a lineup of NYC guys like that, But I don't see it yet.

Dudes are completelt and utterly bugging the hell out with this NYC is done talk, it's gotten pretty ridiculous now.
1) NY hip hop hasn't just fell off hip hop as a whole has fallen off. Dudes are blinded by radio play and fail to realize that every region is flopping.Out of the south you have Jeezy, T.I, Wayne as the superstar rappers everyone else has struggled to go gold despite having there videos and songs played amillion times per day
2) NY hip hop acts IMO have more of a fan base then a majority of these southern cats(Ex young Joc, Guerilla Zo, Gucci Mane, etc) yea it may seem like theydoing a lot but when the album drops they doin the same numbers that any new cat from nyc is doing. It's damn near impossible to break a new act to thepublic anywhere in hip hop not just the east.
3) The level of music in NY is still at a good level. Although it may not rule the radio the music speaks for itself and a large portion of the years bestalbums still come from NY artist
grin.gif
. So how is NY scrutinized for fallingoff when there still making some of the best music.

This whole thing just seems like NY is finally showing a weakness and other regions are coming up. So now the playing field may finally be leveled a bit, instead of saying this dudes are gettin extra wreckless as if Ny is completely irrelevant

And this is why i could never get mad about Chicago getting spotlight because they make good music. I mean Lupe hasn't went platinum or brokeany ringtone records but the dude has developed a fanbase because he makes good music so people are always gonna check for dude, same wit common.

Then you have guys like Ace hood, Flo Rida, plies yes there hot now but once this sound is considered old they are wiped out because at the end of the day themusic is trash. and it sounds no different from anyone else.
-So everyone talking about the Ny needs to take after the south i ask Why? Quality wise our music right now is better than the south's it's just notwhat's being promoted and that' something the labels need to worry about. we need to stay in our own lane and do what we want it's what had us ontop for 20 years why change and become followers.

Just make music being yourself and you will find your audience...Busta - Arab Money is a more lyrical Get Silly by VIC, they both doin the same dance...disgusting

N's scared to be themselves and everyone want that top spot so they mimic whats on top (nh)

I'm from Houston and you wouldnt believe the scene and what comes out as the next avant garde, original bs in the magazines, but you know what they foundtheir niche and happy with their fans, and they grassroot it to the top

Lastly hiphop acts just cant perform nowadays -
if you still putting on a cd & rapping with your words on it, BOOO..
Get a dj, get a band, learn how to work the crowd, You not JAY Z you cant just stand there and make people go crazy

it's a shame what the game's became,
But the truth is,
There's really nobody to blame,
But the music.
Lets give it a minute,
With no wack gimmicks,
Just hard beats and rhymes,
blow breath back in it.

""Then you have guys like Ace hood, Flo Rida, plies yes there hot now but once this sound is considered old they are wiped out because at the end ofthe day the music is trash. and it sounds no different from anyone else. "" Fam you sound hypocritical, you can always pick out rappers in eachregion that are hot for the moment and at the end of the day the music will be trash - Ron Browz, Papoose, Maino You acting like mixtape rappers dont sound thesame, with all the cliche punchlines...

He got a good point...but c'mon man...WE'VE HEARD THE %#@% ENOUGH! How many times do you hear those exact songs you named on the radio...ALL DAY, Iswear arab money comes on once an hour on hot 97 between the 3 or 4 different mixes they have now and pop champagne/hi hater goes without saying. People justget tired of it, and some people are NOT poppin' live but we aint even gonna get into that

and that's why i don't cosign most mixtape rappers. The only cat i really F with off the mixtape scene is Jae Millz and Saigon because they have madeactual "Songs" not just mixtape material that have been hot to me. The thing about guys like Ron Browz, Papoose, Maino is that they aren't theones being played every 20 minutes and all over TV like what they put out is good.

My point is basically everyone seems to be saying that NY has fallen off and i would be able to live with it if the south was out doing us musically but therenot. HI Hater isn't an original track by any means and it makes me cringe that a NY rapper has to do a song like that just to get any type of promotion. The People who are controlling mainstream hiphop are basically handicapping people into making bad music.

And LA and Chicago have alot to offer in terms of music overall. It ain't just all hip-hop.
Yeah, I was just wondering if anyone had any names - to give em a listen.

Our undeground scene is extremely promising as well.
Put me on... The 3 artist you named hold your city down nicely and I'm sure there's others who go just as hard if not harder.

EVERY RAPPER IN NYC WANNA BE A BOSS... AND EVERY BODY CANT BE A BOSS IN A CITY LIKE OURS... GOTTA HAVE A TEAM THAT PLAY THEY POSITION.... POINT BLANK....

A few things to consider:

NOT ALL UP AND COMING NYC ARTISTS ARE WORTH MERIT.

Budden used Maino, Red Cafe & Ron Browz for examples and those are BAD examples. I'm from Brooklyn, I grew up in the same hood as Maino and I knowdudes that mess with Red Cafe. I wish them both the best off GP and I'll even support both when I have the chance. And I can't even deny that all 3 ofthem have big records out that I like. But let's keep it all the way 100...

They're all TRASH as artists.

Not everyone cares much for their music, especially all the crabs in this proverbial bucket we call NYC. AND NOT EVERY ARTIST FROM NY IS TALENTED. You have tounderstand something, EVERYONE that goes out to these types of shows either do music themselves or have associates that are trying to claw their way into theindustry. So most of the time when you think people at the show aren't showing an artist love, they're really analyzing and mentally critiquing them.

Another thing to consider, in NYC the people no longer dictate the music. Money does. And weall know nothing makes cents when you're broke. Plus consumers are more educated in regards to music now more than ever. You can't sell the same peoplethat support a Kanye or a Lil Wayne or even Young Jeezy on an artist like Maino or Red Cafe and others. Yes a few people here and there may 2-step to "HiHater" and "Paper Touchin'" in the club for 2 minutes, but they'd rather buy a drink then their album when it drops. Why buy BS musicwhen you can download and blog about it for free, heh?

The main cause of the whole 'NY taking a back seat to hip-hop and music' issue in my opinion is that most NY DJ's are no longer irrelevantin today's music scene. The ones who are relevant (mainly radio dj's) are more concerned witheither looking out for their friends and business associates, money hungry or just don't care anymore. Everyone else, their deeds go unnoticed. Look at allthe other cities that are popping in rap (Miami, ATL, Houston, Chicago etc...) all of them have prominent dj's that are riding for the cause of theirrespective cities. NY hasn't had that since 2003 when G-Unit and Dipset were popping.

Maybe in the mainstream, but Joe is making better music right now than 98% of the dudes that you hear on the radio.

pretty stupid if you ask me, joe was his finest when he was part of that triangle offense.

i like mood muzik budden too, but his swag be off with the those sometimes...

what the hell does that even mean. This is another thing that killsme about rap today. Everything is about "swag". I wish that word would just be gone already. Joe doesn't need Fab, not everyone is superthirsty to be super famous (not like Fab is some worldwide sensation or something anyways).
