It always seems like the guy "next in line" never gets the right exposure
Jay to Bleek
50 to Banks
Nely to Murphy Lee
Even if N*E*R*D* is a band P is always the one everybody talks about

Banks did for a period but once he tried to branch off that's where the problems started and during that time people were getting tired of G-Unit.

IMO the "2nd Guy" blows up if a) you get the CHANCE to release a damn album & b) if it's successful where in both Banks & YoungBuck's situation initially both happened.

Big L to blew Mase, killa cam

cam blew up juelz sanata, jim jones

jim jones blew up Max B

Dre blew up Snoop, eminem, Icecube, etc.

The reason is because the first guy has some value or quality that the second guy doesn't, hence the reason he came first. This thread is just like askingwhy Kobe starts the game instead of The Machine

There's usually a reason why the "2nd guy" is indeed the 2nd guy...There have been a few instances where the 2nd banana blew up in there ownright...(but come on Jim Jones to Max who?...lol)
 
Jay to Kanye to Lupe (hopefully to Gemini). Not really the second coming of each other but each blew up with backing from the predecessor.

if biggie would have not died, P.diddy would have never blown up IMO.

The album debuted at number 1 on the Billboard charts with 433,000 copies sold in the first week. Sure it's a couple times platinum...

Everyone hates on G-Unit but Banks got a loyal fanbase...

the 2nd guy is just that, the assistant. People will always know Bleek as Jay's dude, basically given his crown instead of earning it..

Its a reason the 2nd guy is the second guy, if they had MEGAstar talent, they would have their own second guy.
 
Its because when the 2nd guy blows up, hes not the 2nd guy anymore and people forget that he was in the first place.

I don't think you understand by what I mean like you don't see Banks on the cover of magazines like GQ or with Robert Deniro etc....thatkind of "blown up" not just hip-hop fan base
