How Come the 2nd Guy Never Blows Up?

The reason is because the first guy has some value or quality that the second guy doesn't, hence the reason he came first. This thread is just like asking why Kobe starts the game instead of The Machine

Everyone hates on G-Unit but Banks got a loyal fanbase...
I don't think you understand by what I mean like you don't see Banks on the cover of magazines like GQ or with Robert Deniro etc....that kind of "blown up" not just hip-hop fan base
How many rappers blow up to that extent though? besides 50, Jay, Diddy.

Big Pun to fat joe
Big L to like 4 other guys

In the underground, JMT blew up (if you can say that) many people with features on albums and that AOTP collabo.

are we talking sidekicks like busta/spliff and jay/bleek or people that just associated with other people?

when you up there as the second guy its like admitting someones better than you. lacking confidence is a no-no.

You're REACHING to the point of strain.

Because alot of times people expect the "2nd" guy to be the same type of artist as the first guy, but everyone has their own perspective on thingsand a different way of expressing themselves. Also the 2nd guy many times doesnt have the same work ethic as the first. And sometimes the second guy justsucks.

some people are confusing putting some one down and the 2nd guy. with that said. arab poor kid.

dre to em doesnt count cause dre didnt come up with em. dre just found em its not like they were buddies before they had the deal. ye and john legend wouldntcount either.
fatjoe to big pun is probaly the only example that works for the 2nd guy. in fact the second guy completly out shines

its actually sad to see sometimes.
like Bleek and Jay that situation is deserving cuz Jay is just that superior.
but Banks/50 & Murphy Lee/Nelly its different cuz Banks is a pretty good lyricist or at least was (fell off bad) and actually better than 50 imo, its justhe lacked 50s charisma.
and Murphy Lee was just flat out better than Nelly imo.
I've never liked Nelly with the exception of 1 or 2 songs and Murphy wasn't particularly great but he could spit way better than Nelly, again charismawas the main factor.
In those situations i think the hype around the 1st person just elevates them to the top of the hierarchy without us actually hearing any1 else. then when theydo come out people still see them as an employee rather than the boss.

IMO that's a yes and no.

- They're 2 different artists (one Hip Hop the other R&B) but Kanye did put him on AND Legend has blown up and now has his own lane and has branchedout so personally the end result = YES.
