NT, I'm in LOVE...Vol. Jaguar XF

So i'm in the market for a new car, and I was pretty set on getting an '09 Maxima. The more and more I look at the Max, the more and more I like it.However, i've been driving Maximas for quite some time, and I think it's time to move on up the luxury ladder. Plus my current car, the '07 Maxima, was a disappointment. It drove like a boat, and during my test drive of the '09, it didn't feel much better.

The next car I looked at was the Acura TL. It's a great car, but it starts at around 40k, and i'm not entirely satisfied with the styling. Cars usuallygrasp my senses instantly, and this one has barely caught my eye.

I did not bother with the Jaguar XF because I assumed the MSRP would be in the 65k+. Luckily for me, the Luxury model starts at 49k. So, I scheduled a testdrive today on my day off. Man, i'm in LOVE with this car. The interior is unlike any other car i've driven, the ride is not boaty (and not toosporty), and the style is a total neck-breaker. I don't drive with a lead foot (i'm more of a "cruiser"). The dealership is offering a fairdeal ($1,500 off the Luxury package, 0% interest for the first 5 months). I'm even considering buying a used one.

I know buying a car in that price-range might not be a good idea, and resale for Jags is bleh, but I have solid job-security, and I can actually afford thecar. I've never been one to be flashy with possessions (in fact, i'm a total bargain-shopper), but this car has gotten a firm grip on me. I've evenbeen thinking about slapping on some rims on it too (this idea was inspired by Cam Nelson's threads). I don't know what's gotten into me, but Ihave an eerie desire to have this car! It's all i've been thinking about! NT, talk some sense into me!

Don't really like the styling, but ay, I don't even drive yet.

You don't like anything else? is a E90 M3 Sedan too sporty?

"btw... back looks better than the front"

i really want this car but i want to mess with a v6 for my first car.

if i really decide to go foward with a v8 then this or a used 6 series would be considered. but the 6 is more expensive

if not i will either try a g37 or lexus gs. not sure what to look into.

So true. Reliability is another big issue for me; the Maxima wasn't that great, and the '09 Max is the first of the new 7th generation. Nissan hasfallen off a bit in the reliability department.

I any case, I just want to sell my car asap. Sooner the better. Maybe a few more days of waiting will get the XF outta my system.

I've given the E90/92 M3 some thought, but i'm into bigger-body cars.

Too easy.

If you like to spend $1200-$1500 brake jobs, $800-$2,000 tune ups (supercharged vs. non-supercharged), tires that run $900 + a set, and a 50% depreciationhit within the year... all while paying notes on a 50K Ford then go for it.

If this is the car that you have to own then it's a great idea that you wait a couple years later and buy it certified preowned.

I'd say don't buy it new just because of the price difference. I have a friend with an old S-type and it still runs just fine, but I know Jaguar has abad reputation. The XF looks absolutely

though. Best thing I've seen from Jaguar since... ever.
