laney XIV? lol...wut?

so im talkin to someone who just copped some OG low XIV's a couple days back and this person refered to em as "laney XIV" i told this person nosuch shoe exist,

so they proceed to open a bag they was carrying and whipped out a pair of..

and told them "how can those be laney XIV's whenthe actual laney jordans, the V's ain't come out till 2 years later..."

this person refuses to believe me, so i wanted proper confirmation that these got NUFFIN to do with the Laney V's or anything laney...they're just OGlow top XIV's in black and blue.

i got a wager on this fellaz, i can already see japino grinding his teeth...

Probably because they are somewhat of a Laney colorway....I just started seeing this also. These made up nick-names need to stop.

your right about the 5s coming out later but laney is the high school mike went to! so of course they can be inspired by laney high school because he went tolaney way before he got a shoe deal (obviously). i think you might be forgetting that those 5s your referring to dont have the word "laney" in thecolorway, they are inspired by the schools colors and thats what we connect them with (another example would be raptor 7s) everyone has different nicknames fortheir shoes bro and if he considers them laney 14s then so be it. i think you should stop wasting your time trying to prove people wrong. im not trying to berude but for someone that has 1200+ posts you just created a POINTLESS thread... you kind of need to grow up buddy

and to "untitled" i realize that yes the 5s were obviously laney inspired but what i was stressing was that nothing in the colorway description didit say anything about laney... so whos to say that the og 14s werent laney inspired? that was the point i was making. and i willsay it once again its just likethe raptor 7s... we connect them to the nba team because of the colors... probably just as that dude connected his og 14s to laney high schoolscolors

and for something to be inspired by something, the "inspiration" has to preceed the inspired.

^ well obviously the og 14s dont have a RETRO card to "describe it" and are you seriously telling me that the "inspired" (og 14s) dontpreceeed the "inspiration" (mike going to laney high school)??? im not saying that the og 14s got their inspiration from the laney 5s because thatwould make no sense because as you said they came out later. but what i am saying is that it is possible (not guarenteed) that the 14s COULD HAVE been inspiredby laney high school. so the point i am trying to get across is that your friend isnt necessarily wrong because he referred to them as laney 14s because forall we know they could have been inspired by that school

for the RECORD, were those XIV's modelled AFTER jordan's Highschool or anything laney of that nature...and simple YES or NO would suffice.
 
wow youlike using pics dont you? but to answer your question we will never know if they were modled after laney or not... but as far as JB putting it out therein plain sight... no they were not modled after laney... however the point i was trying to make was that just because he calls them laney 14s doesnt mean thathe is completely wrong.... because for all we know that could have been jordan brands inspiration for the colorway. you are right in the sense that they werenot advertised as laney 14s but i am just saying that we will never know the inspiration behind the shoe
 
One of the slickest pair of OG 14s i have. To answer the OP question, i do believe that these might have been inspired by "laney". I state myargument because in the Ultimate Jordan (20th Anniversary Three-Disc Collector's Edition)he stated that he always wanted shoes inspired by his high school colors, this Jordan 14 modelwas tried to capture that laney inspiration. The laney 5s were a success in being the high school colors but I do believe that these were to, to each of hisown

more than likely there laney inspired. thats like saying the baby blue/columbia/carolina Jays are not College inspired. each non-bulls colorway has some typeof inspiration but back then it was as noticeable.
