Not exactly, they can do a 'price match', which means that if the same item is sold at another store, say walmart, for a cheaper price, they may beable to honor it. But as far as just talkin them down like it's a fake gold chain in the middle of the mall... No.

I always do this for my earrings at those little kiosks in the mall, but I really doubt it would work somewhere like Best Buy.

i went into a gabriel's in ohio and talked down a pair of jeans cuz a button needed fixed. works like a charm

when i worked at circuit back in 07 lol they did this SOMETIMES.. with tv's

i remember my manager said if they dont want to buy it, tell them that you'll take of $100 and that's it

Thanks guys for the input.

I mean I know car dealerships are glad to knock $6-8,000 off the sticker if you have money ready. My father was telling me that department stores andelectronic retailers are just trying to make every dollar they can and if you offer straight cash, they can always accept.

I know with open box items you can talk with em about cosmetic flaws, defects, etc.

Someone tried that, to which I replied no. The tv already pays me next to nothing, and you wanna try to talk the price down? The %!*@ outta here, buy awarranty then we can talk.

With the car thing, do you mean the total amount or lets say $2000-$5000 down payment?

I use to work for Best Buy. And yes if you get a salesman like myself you could bargain. Because what alot of people dont realize is that
at a time like this a company would rather make a 400$ profit as opposed to the 800$ it woulda made rather than seeing 0$ come in.

When i worked in car audio i seriously hooked ALOT of people up because the mark ups are insane!! I got a 2100$ tv from best buy with my employee discount gotif for 1150.
and besy buy employees discount is 5% over what best buy pays. so you think about HOW much pure profit there getting... and trust with the economy like it isyou can def bargain. SOme people are just afraid to as for what they want.

RKO2004, I mean total amount.

My father paid 21,500 for an SUV that said 29,500 on the sticker, no down payment, no trade-in.

Car dealerships are begging for help these days.

so your saying.. i can walk into a bestbuy tomorrow morning and offer 500 on a 650-700 set and most likely be able to deal with me ?

or are they gonna look at me like @#* ?

For a set that cheap, who knows. It depends if the model is selling well at $650-700 or not. You should be able to negotiate a $1,500 Samsung down to $1000 orso.

good thing i found this thread, because i was about to make one myself

what if i wanted something smaller? im trying to score a 500GB external hard drive. given its 80 bucks, is it possible to haggle down to say, 60 or 65?

CoD: WaW is 35 at best buy right now supposedly. if i can get it for 25 ill heavily consider it. wishful thinking much?

i bought a TV at Best Buy earlier this year and got them to take $300 off the price since i was paying cashing and not financing.

i got an $1800 TV for $1500 plus a Monster HDMI cable.

when i worked at compusa we use to do that all the time. especially with laptops....but for us to mark the price down they would have to by out service plan sowe would make you a very good deal.

i went into best buy a couple of weeks ago. I wanted the samsung 52 650 model. It was on sale for 1,999.99. I told the manager that I wanted to pay 1,700.00for the tv. He said he cant. But that he woudl give me a discount if I buy more items. IE CABLES MOUNT AND INSURANCE.. So he didnt bargain. SO I LEFT.

im pretty sure thats wishful thinking.

in my experience, you can only bargain on bigger ticket items (ie. a tv) - usually you can get a discount and some smaller items thrown in (brd player, hdmicables etc.)
