Comparing them :

Fakes are claimed DS[BrandNew] If so they are they should be clear not pre yellowed.
Take a look on the legit pair they are Ds and clear ICEY soles.
I dint find a good picture on the back jumpman but you can see it is way to small..Compare the location/size and the location on the fakes to legit pair.
Fakes Tongue: Take alook it should be blue not purple , it should be higher like on the legit pair.
Midosole Fakes : Should be blue'$+! not purple...
The jumpman on the bottom sole on the legit pair is blue not greenish like on the fake pair...
Know your box and card should Look like this No Exception , Unless B-Grades..

Lets start , well not much to say .
Uhm the fake pair, the sole should NOT have a bluetint at all .. Thats a NO-NO.
The lace lock should have a Gold Jumpman also no exception.
Know the size tag
It should Read of UPC not PAT ..
If the shoe Nike/Jordan came out in the year 05 it shoud mostlikely read US5 Or
Us then anumber if it is 04 and before it should read PAT and the production date should touch barcode..
So stay away .
Your not shure if Fake or Legit
Make a legit check , you end up having a better buying expirience .

I looked at most of the sections in which pics still worked.
The Air Jordan IV section could use an update, because fakes are
getting harder and harder to identify. Besides the netting (which is the only thing
focused on in the original thread), I came up with this:

Fake Thunder IV's



Legit Thunder IV's


1. The netting panel - The netting panel on '06-'08 Retro IV models is much smaller.
The netting is finer on newer models. This netting shown on the fake Thunder IV's
is quite large and the little squares are bulky. The netting panel itself should be a little
bigger and not as consolidated. Thunder IV's DO NOT come with a NIKE hang-tag, (nor do any '06-'08 retro's).

2. The cut of the nubuck panel right after the "wings" should not have such a sharp cut and decline towards the back.
It is mis-shaped and is often a key aspect towards giving away fakes.

3. The toe-box on '06-'08 Retro IV's is longer, but even on '99-'00 retro's don't have such an abrupt stop to the toe-box.
The cut of the toe-box is too short and is way too bulky.

4. The black sole that breaks through the yellow mid-sole is too round. It should have a sharper curve towards the top.

5. The overall cut of the sneaker is more of a mid cut. '06'-'08 Retro IV's are cut lower and have a longer tongue

-The cut of the sneaker is more of a mid cut.
-The toe-box is too short, 2001 retro's have a longer toe-box.
-The toe-box is stitched very sharply, should have a rounder sense to it.
-The Nike "swoosh" is to wide at the basin, is is on an awkward angle as well.
-The Key-Chain should have a Jumpman facing the right. [Not included]
-The toe-box is too short, and too boxy.
-The legit pair has a stamped wing logo not a hologram

-Notice the fakes have a tinted blu sole / Legit Jordans Wont.
-The tongue should be placed higher .
-Swede is red not have a violet tone of swede.
-Cheap stitching on tongue/cheap lether [maybe if its lether ] ... Notice the ankle part.

- Notice on the fake pair the Carbon Fiber should be All Black and it is not ...
- The shoe laces also have an inpact , they are way to skinny to be 11's Laces..
- The Jumpman Is Slanted to the left a bit to much ..
- The soles shouldnt be pre yellowed ...

@ the no difference between the Fake XI CDP and the Authentic.

* Notice how on the XII's the toe box curves up, and the shoe looks too glossy.

* The Fake XI's have the "Jumpman Jordan" tag on the 4th lace eyelet, authentic's always have it on the3rd.
* No 2-3 spacing also.
* The Taxi's color looks too light and the tag on the back looks faded.
* Also the box font is wrong.

Notice the carbon fiber It should be all black ..
Soles are preyellowed .. The legit pair is also yellowed but do to storage + age ..
Fake pair is Ds and came out of production when they took photos .. [or not to long after they took pics ]
Once again the jumpman is slanting to the left more than it shoould ... As you can see the ankle cut is to big..
Notice your legit pair and fake pair ..
Also notice that the that the jumpman near the laceloops should not read jumpma jordan [fakes tend to have that]

To help you guys all out this is how all Mid 11's should look from behind no exception...

Shoe sz tag should have production date + be touching the barcode this goes for shoes made from 04 and below..
 
you should try to focus on showing some of the better quality fakes than the obvious ones you have up here. i know i've seen fakes in all of these thatlook closer to the real shoes. also, it would help more if you did a guide on the box/box tag, since its essentially universal to all jordan's ie: jordanface being too dark on the box for the 1's. and most of the fake 4's don't have the bump at the heel that all auth. iv's have. fakes iv'salso have low heeltabs compared to og's. and cw for the grapes is grape/emerald ice, it is purple not blue.

* The authentic pair is a high cut. The fake pair looks more like a re-retro of all the IV's such as the CDPIV's.

* There is no "hump" present on the back of the shoe under the "NIKE AIR".

* The grey on the fake pair is darker on the light pair.

* Note how the netting has a square shape to it, authentics have squarish-rectangular shape to them. Thenetting should never be glossy also.

* If you look closely at both "wings" of the shoe notice how the authentic pairs wings opening islarger than the fake pair.

* The tongue is too short on the fake pair also.

* Once again, no hump is present on the fake pair and the shade of grey isn't right.

good guide when i first started in the sneakergame this was on my cell phone favorites for quick craigslist shoe meetups. haha very informative for all sneakerheads
 
Quick guide for the Air Jordan IVs -a lot of people always ask what is the heel "bump" on IVs and why is it such a good indication of authenticity?

When the IVs first dropped in '89 they had a noticeable curve or "bump" to the back heel -obviously this makes for a better fit as it matches the natural shape of your own heel.

Fakes of course are not made for comfort or athletic purpose, they are made only to roughly replicate the shoe on looks alone, therefore, the bump isn't really necessary.

(Unfortunately over the years, Jordan Brand have applied this process themselves and modern IVs are also made for looks only.)
