What was your earliest memory of a world event?

World event = something another person who doesn't know you would remember happening.

World event =/= you and your brother playing baseball in your back yard.

For me it's when the Pope John Paul II visited Trinidad in February 5th, 1985. I was 4 years old.

That I can think of, TWA Flight 800 crash in 1996, I was 7. There might be something before that but I cant think of it.

Dang I have to have a horrible memory I was older then you and I def don't remember that flight crashing.

1996.. i guess thats when my memories of serious stuff really started to develop 96 olympics.. The torch came down my street! 96 olympics... centennial olympicpark bombing 96.. TWA flight crashed... also during the olympics if im not mistaken.. Oh and i remember OJ whenever that happened and Oklahoma City Bombingwhenever that happened.

Tom Brokaw standing in front of the Berlin Wall the night it came down.

The Earthquake during the '89 Series

I was almost 5 years old.

I have a terrible memory.

One that always sticks out in my mind was the Heaven's Gate Cult because of those creepy videos of Marshall Applegate. That was 1997, I believe; I was 8 or9.

Edit: Alright, I take that back. I remember the O.J. chase and the Oklahoma City bombings, too.

I guess Gulf War counts, I remember seeing a video-game looking map (probably of Iraq) with little airplanes positioned all over it (showing where the US wasadvancing or something) and it caught my attention.

hurricane andrew was a few years later but I slept through most of that.

Not a world event...but earliest event I remember. L.A. Rodney King riot. My family and I were at Universal Studios at a hotel somwhere up on a hill orsomething, because you could see smoke and fire off in the distance. My parents watched it on the TV, but I was too young to know what was happening. I justvividly remember the smoke.

Watching Jimmy Carter giving a speech about Iran when he was still president. Must have been 1979.
We had one of these huge tvs with a radio & record player all in one. I clearly remember this
because we got a color tv about a year or two later.
