What Was Your EARLIEST Memory of a World Event?

not exactly a WORLD event, but it did postpone the world series. the 89 earthquake in SF.

Honestly, I have a terrible memory of world events until 9-11. Thats the first one burned into my memory, but I remember that very clearly. For whateverreason, I have very little before that. I can recall individual things very well, but nothing wide scale. I can remember a conversation I had when I was 6 andhad pink eye, but no world events until age 9 in 2001.

Valujet 592 crash (living in SoFla it was hard to avoid)...'96 olympics...one of the 200 earthquakes a year in Jamaica when I was about 4...

dang, making me feel old

major events- tiananmen square, fall of berlin wall, quake in 89 (i was 6),
baby jessica falling in the well 87 (4yrs old, it was on my bday)

on side note, i remember dominique v. bird in 88

the earliest i can think of is the big earthquake in '89 that hit the bay area during the giants vs A's world series....i was 2 at the time, but forsome reason i remember being in our van at my gmas while it happened, but dont remember anything else

Hmm gots to be the The Northridge earthquake of 1994 shook up all of the SFV
