So I went into a bestbuy today and saw something I never even knew about, TV calibration.

they had two of the same TVs next to each other with the same thing showing, one calibrated, the other not.
there was a big difference in both the pics...

so... whose done it? whats the benefits other than clearer pic? how much did you pay?

I payed 3 something for isf tech dude to come in to my crib and do it, at the end I am not really "WoW'ed" or anything. But it looks better

explain then...cuz I am not paying $300 for somebody to calibrate my tv....
Tweaking your own settings is all well and good but and ISF Calibration is going to do much more than just go and adjust the brightness, color, color temp etc... They use a lot of high tech equipment to test the colors/greyscales etc.

lot of crap that i dont have time to fully understand let alone explain

But yeah... ISF Calibration >>> messing with your settings

Found a place in Charleston that does this ISF Calibration that u speak of. Is this all that it does? Just trying tomake sure I'm not getting hosed...

is there any before and after pictures of an isf calibration? $300 is a lot of money you could use that to buy a better tv or a home theatre system.

exactly. Dudes tinkering with brightness thinking they're getting the same effect as paying for the service

Calibration should be done in your home
the equipment they use has a light sensor. the lighting in your home can effect how the tv is viewed. if your house is dim then the tv will be toobright and colors will be over saturated as well as hurt your eyes.

too bright and the colors will be washed out and lifting up brightness will only kill your colors.

i never heard of this before .. is this a one time thing or like a oil change has to be done periodically

Meh. $300? I'll just use the "calibration" disc that came with the TV and call it a day.

Its been well over a year without real calibration, and I'm still wowed at times by my TV. It just isn't that serious.

Nah youre set for a long time unless your TV needs to be serviced for some reason... that would most likely mess up the settings so itd have tobe calibrated again
