Yes, I know, right now he's washed up and all. But remember, he's only 26, same age as Lil Wayne. Most rappers did not even get signed until they were28. He's already an elite lyricist. All he needs is 50 to teach him how to write hooks, like Jam Master Jay taught him. Or better just just write them forhim. But then again 50 hasn't had nice hooks for a good while. And he needs to develop an image and personality, because he really doesn't have one. If50 fails with his next album, I'm pretty sure he's going to push Banks. He could be one of the top rappers out. It may seem a bit ridiculous, butremember Lil Wayne was not the hottest dude in his crew either. Also keep in mind that although Game has some talent lyrically, he would be nowhere if it werenot for 50 help producing his hit singles and his West Coast Gangbanger persona.

sorry lloyd banks just doesn't have crossover appeal, overall he's just too boring.

I don't see it happening.

It's gonna be interesting to see who fills the void in the mainstream world though.

drake or kid cudi..............mark my words

When you say Lloyd Banks is a elite lyricist it strips the word of all value and meaning. Banks, elite, really?

Banks always had talent. I'm not checking for him though, if he never recorded music again it wouldn't phase me but if he comes correct for a fullalbum i'd listen and give him his dues

Lloyd Banks released his solo debut album The Hunger for More in June 2004. The first single was the summer smash hit "On Fire" which featured 50Cent. The album debuted at number 1 on the Billboard charts with 433,000 copies sold in the first week. The album has since sold over two million copies andhas been certified platinum by the RIAA.

alright, ya'll some fools. I'm not saying it will happen. Justsaying it COULD happen if he and 50 put in some effort to promote him and define his image. Nor did I say he would be doing major numbers like platinum in oneweek. But he could be Young Jeezy or Fabolous status you know. He probably won't make any major moves since he's complacent now, I mean he is eatingbetter than most rappers just for riding 50's coattail.

got me.

I stopped when you said Lloyd Banks is an elite lyricist.

What is the criteria for lyricism in 2008? Fabolous? Lloyd Banks? Nah.

He fell off to.

Arent you a clipse fan? Whats the different between them and fab and banks? None of those 3 are elite but they are all ill lyricists. And fab andbanks are better cause they can be lyrical on a range of subjects. If you're not a clipse fan tho carry on

Punchlines isn't lyricism. Correction, punchlines only partly makeup lyricism. Fab and Banks are not close to the Clipse either. They mayrhyme about dope a lot, but it makes their material cohesive and collective, plus literally it's not the only thing they talk about.

I'd like to know what "range of subjects" your talking about when your talking about Banks and Fab though.

Lyrical=story telling ability, metaphors, similes, symbols, personification, double entendre etc, etc....

lol @ dude gettin at Lloyd and Fab
dudes would eat ya favorite MCs E Z, quote that.
like really?
Everybody entitled to they opinions but thats a SMH moment right there, well at least IMO.

Lloyd fell off in my book but so did the Unit in general and its all a matter of Hunger.
They got successful and they got lazy. Now after the last album you would think he'd pick it up considering the scope of the fall off but it didn'thappen.
He definitely has time on his side and given the right backing I could see him putting out something crazy.

So no your not alone but we're probably in the minority.

If banks isn't big by now he'll never meet the potential you envision op. weezy... thats a rare case that he got to where he is after so long, but hiscontent changed a lot. banks is never gonna change like that and his work has gone downhill since his original mixtape debut
