NYC is coming back, we gotta show our support, not tear it down.

My man Big L put it best,It's like he looked into the future and made this song exactly for NY artists at this time period, just listento the lyrics

Im starting to go back to rap shows, all kinds.
with that goes buying cds or other ways of showing support.

but what you're talking about is mainstream artists... turn the radio off.
some of these artists you might be speaking of should have "never been on", people justbeen amazed by good beats and hit singles.

case in point Jim Jones. I never liked any dip members other than Cam FROM THE JUMP!!!!!!!!!!, but dudes wanted to hop on dipset's sac early, nowthey're turning their backs on them.

Cam learned to rap from ma$e, Jim said the same thing then he learned the biz from Dame+Cam.
These guys aren't rappers, they are business men and you guys are overly excited to be their loyal consumers, the game is sad.

Co-sign.

I was never on dipset, they are a disgrace to the days of hard NY rap and unmatched lyricism. Like you, I only had respect for Cam since he was decent in the90's with CotC after Big L picked him up off the street and put a mic in his hand.

Still waiting on the OP to tell me who he thinks is really poppin' in NY, because I'm up on NY rap and nothin out here is close to impressing me.

what rappers are you talking about? I'm not really up on the new *%+# from NY (hope yall aint talkin about Joell

)

Damn.. This thread is what's wrong with NYC.

How & why are yall hating on Dipset???
They dead !$! was doing it for Harlem NYC. (I'm Brooklyn).

Diplomatic Immunity I was a classic. Just cause *%@@%* aint rapping about Christopher Columbus like that Mickey Factz *$!+! or whatever don't mean themusic wasn't popping & they weren't holding it down for NY. Name another city that got a consistent sound like we do.

Jim, Juelz, Cam was all poppin' at one point. Yall some haters.
Now they weren't what the LOX was or what the OG Terror Squad used to be lyrically. But we still got it. We had the best rappers of all time come from NY.

And to add if you want to say what do we have now..

I mean in the club we got Ron Browz & Jimmy doing their sound.

Fab doing it for BK. Jay still going hard with BK.
Max got the country riding the wave.
Jada still out here doing his thing killin' any beat he ever touches.
Joell trying to blow up & he holding it down. Even Red Cafe got more buzz then rappers yall talk about nowadays.

Appreciate what NY's doing & stop hating.

^I know, but it's hard to appreciate what these cats are doing when you are used to hearing the best. You come off NY being the mecca of hip-hop andlistening to all the classics that came out in the 90's and then try to listen to some of this....

Even if it was good it wouldn't sound like anything compared to the past greats.

It's hard for me to just say, ok that time period is over and it will probably never be back, I just gotta move on and listen to this soft pop type music. So instead I keep bumpin the classics and the new underground joints and hope that someone comes out to bring that era of lyricism back to NY.

bottomline is i like seeing my city win, i don't CARE who brings the chip as long as its in the boros.

Jim Jones for example, i'll admit, not even my 4th favorite dipset member, but when he does his thing and represents NYC i appreciate that....its all abouthometown pride for me...

Ron Browz is on the radio and is giving us limelight and on top of that, bringing cats together...same goes with busta rhymes, so when ya crap on they recordsits like

"damn if you do damn if you don't" ya was waitin for NYC to get some buzz and get talked about, well they delivered on some joints thats bangingin the clubs...and all i see is

its kinda like when the yankees were killin with those playoff runs and here comes someone talkin bout "oh F the yankees, i don't even watch baseballbut i hate derek jeter, he dumped mariah...." just random hate from cats that are from NYC....

You can sell without selling in NYC. NYC cant sell without selling in the rest of the country. NY is big population wise but there's maybe only 200,000 hiphop fans up there where theres millions else where in the US. NY needs to stop isolating themselves as New York in start just making music.

People dont call Jeezy, Wayne, TI,etc Dirty South artist anymore there just hip hop artist where New York ns just want to be called NY its time for yall tojust make music and stop trying to be elite or seperate from everyone else. Yes, Hip Hop started in New York, but Basketball started in Springfield, Mass buttheres no NBA team in Springfield.

the best interest for hip hop> the best interest of NY, especially if you're not a music exec

, who cares who brings "rap money" anywhere?

Ron brows is corny, cornier than "nyc rap fans being cannibals"

whats corny about ron browz? he makes pretty good beats and is making pretty good club music right now...

....he got put on by big L, made some solid beats, and he decided to step in front of the mic and capitalize on the limelight money...he's like a VERY poorversion of swizz beatz, whats wrong with that?

if you don't know... then I don't knowwhere to begin.
I goto clubs here and there, I listen to the radio, I even think "jumpin out the window" is tolerable.
But in 4 months I hope I never hear his music again, its just disposable "for the moment" jingles.
Other than producing the weak Ether beat I don't think he'll be held in any regards to hip hop history.

look all of you are sayin hometown pride and all that...but at the end of the day music is music. to most hip hop fans it dont matter where the musics from.and btw yall hate on the bay area for the hyphy music from 2 years ago and the south for what they do (as much as i hate the souths lack of lyricism, 90% ofthe hot club hits are from the south)and now u have trash like ron browz jumpin out the window. just cause he from ny he gets a pass? garbage is garbage...

So we should support artists who put out garbage as long as they're representing NY? Correct?

"Ay-Rab Money" and "Pop Champange" are wack tracks.

And no, I'm not saying that they're wack because they're "club joints". If it was good, I wouldn't mind. Just because peopledon't like garbage doesn't mean that all they want is "backpack rap" either, just to get that out of the way. I don't know how the restof NY would react if there are good tracks put out in the future, but I'll support it if it's good.

If it takes supporting garbage that Ron Browz and Busta (recently of course) put out to put NY back on the map, no thanks.
