Black Woman Walking vol. black woman walking

So based on some of the responses I'm reading, I think I can confidently say that a few of you are greatly misunderstanding the whole point of the "documentary". In fact, most of you are exuding the very tendencies these women are complaining about-which is that men (emphasis on black men with respect to the video) are unfairly critiquing and admonishing them based solely on their superficial characteristics…
I agree...that and the people acting like this only happens to women that look like they're fresh out of a rap video either have never leftthe house and have no concept of what this documentary is about, or they are just saying that stuff just to get a rise. Anyone with basic knowledge of howthings work would never say anything so foolish. Come on, now. On top of that, the women in this video are pretty women. They're regular women. If this isreally how y'all feel, no wonder there's so much craziness about women on this board because folks are living in a fantasy world. This is how regularwomen look. I'm sure a lot of you guys are just as plain.

I'm no video chick and I'm definitely not a hoodrat. These clowns in the street see some thighs and an !!! and act like they were raised in barns. It's terrible and an embarrassment.

This is a great little video, thanks for posting!

When I see a chick walking (white, black or whatever) I always approach with respect. It's only when they diss that I say some things that I shouldn'tand alcohol only makes it worse!

Some of my favs:

If they don't respond- "even a dog will bark" sometimes I add "beeeyyyaattttccchhh" at the end tO EXPRESS MYSELF!

"are u dyslexic?

Seriously?

Of course there will be a great number of dudes here in this post that will be of that mindset. However, my point in my original (I think it was my original) post was that men always unfairly critique and admonish, and that there is the same behavior exhibited among groups of men at any given time. The only thing that changes may be the slang/language used. When I hang with my Italian, mexican, or Dominican boys, they CAN be JUST as disrespectful as any other group. The only set of people who I've never seen act in such a way are people directly from Europe or other countries in general. As Americans, we are loud, obnoxious and disrespectful. Now, again, we do not always act in such a way, but there are times when we get it in, shameful as that may be. Most times not, but sometimes,

when the moon is just right the fools and hounds come out to play.
I definitely agree with you on a lot of what you're saying. My only issue is the fact that a lot of unprincipled "young'ins"seemingly condone the misogynistic, damn near licentious, behavior of overt "cat-calling" as acceptable behavior. And also, just because other groups"CAN be JUST as disrespectful" to their women doesn't mean it's OK for my black women to go through the same ishhh--no capt'n.

Furthermore, most were (clearly) ragging on these females simply because they didn't fulfill a certain beauty requirement (misleading NT standards FTL),and as such, I cant help but surmise that the real message of the video is out and over the rainbow for many.
Very true. However the dichotomy between the women who oppose such chauvinistic behavior and the women who support it is not discussed. That complex "chicken or egg" question should most certainly be spoken about to get a truer picture of what America is. When we get a 8-minute vid of women who (wrongfully so, but stereotyping and prejudice is a human trait) look a certain way, and speak about things in a certain manner, we are not getting the whole picture, and therefore the results are biased.

How many women do you know that say "I hate when I get the cat calls and all that", until the right dude does it? Women are wrongfully objectified ALL the time, and it doesn't start or end with black women. So to single out black men, ESPECIALLY when a white woman is the one directing the questions or project, seems a bit off to me.

Now, I am in no way justifying the acts of my gender. Far from it. However the way these females look, I simply stated what could POSSIBLY be going through the mind of the accused. However, I do not appreciate the crass generalization and implication that ALL groups of ONLY black men do this? C'mon...
Well would you really appreciate the response of women who actually appreciate such chauvinistic behavior.Would you really like to hear the perspective of females with such low self-esteem that they appreciate degrading attention...would you really...

Obviously, there are two sides to every story. In fact with this, we have three sides (if you include that of the guys). But the only side to me that would be remotely relevant would be that of the woman who hates such attention but is forced to deal with it on a constant basis. Her struggle is the one I'm interested.

Not trying to be smart or anything but did a White woman really direct this? If so, it's of little consequenceanyway. Lets be real. My brothas are very forward. I'm in no way trying to belittle you or what you're saying with this question but, "have youlived in the hood before?". The way my dudes refer to females is down right disgraceful and disrespectful. As already pointed out, there are females thatcrave such attention. But then there are those that don't want such attention and deserve better.

A female should not be treated with respect simply because she's 10. If she treats herself with respect, shedeserves respect. Now granted she could be a skank on the low but neither you nor I would know that much and such, she reserves the right to be treated withrespect--at the very least.

BTW am I the only one who finds it funny when dudes get disrespectful to a chick they feel is below "their standard" because said chick wouldn'tgive em the time of the day...this is where a lot of the problems stem from...Don't get mad...

3:35 - 4:00 should pretty much convey the whole point of the video
...

when we say (sp?) we mean spelling which means that whoever typed the word didnt know if they it spelled correctly or not

all these generalizations! i have white friends that are allot worse to women then black me, i dont act like that. you got one of these chicks trying to make aexcuse for dating a white guy by saying all black males are rude. Maybe yall cats in NY are like this but i dont see it in my day to day unless im at a club, but that should be expected.....

Ps. Fresco-- why don't you holla at this sista's...

This video is dumb. It's obviously more of a CLASS issue than race. If you have some white girls walking through a trailer park or any poor whiteneighborhood, and there are guys out, they'll probably get treated the same. Know why? Because the level of manners and respect isnt there mostly due toCLASS! In a more upscale black neighborhood, the chances of this happening is a lot lower than if you were in a hood. Look at where they shot the film! It's in a hood! Some of those women obviously don't have much respect for their bodies physically (overweight) and I think that also has something todo with how men approach. Off the bat, when men see a woman who is physically fit and cares for her body, there's something that automatically goes off inour heads that gives them a certain level of respect that women who are kinda on the sloppy side dont get. Know why? Because she cares enough about HERSELFto keep up her shape. That also can be a reflection of responsibility. Now unles you're a big girl lover, am I right?
