POST YOUR PLAYER EXCLUSIVES

Hello:

Acts65, very nice! Was just about to post mine earlier, but had to run some errands. What size are those? They don't look like 14s...they look like 9s or 11s...or maybe I'm just seeing things.

And I'm a huge Gilbert Arenas fan, ever since he was at Arizona and then here at Golden State for awhile...

And to get PEs...welp. You just gotta know people I guess, either someone with the company that produces them or someone that works for the team. Or, you can hunt on ebay, there are always a few that pop up there.

Thanks Alex.

I bought them from a guy who is friends with Kobe's agent. They are size 14 and Kobe wore them a couple times. He has the black All Star pair for sale as well but he wanted a lot more for them.

Your KB8s are pretty nice. I remember the auction. They are signed and came with a display case something.

Hello:

Yeah, the auction was a steal, I thought. This one is actually my second pair, the first one I traded to a friend of mine awhile back. How much is he asking for the AS KB8? Just curious...hehe. Hit me up if you can divulge: retrokid@gmail.com (and are those YOUR AJ XI #45s? Damn...........)

I could help some of you guys on how to get the PE's... Got the info from Horatio Alger on ISS few months back:

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

Read this entire message for tips on obtaining PE's. It is long, but I believe it is as rich in information as it is in content.

General Themes from this post so far. To get PE's either:

A. Have money to pay the exorbitant eBay costs or

B. Know someone

I found option (B) to be the easier of the two.

So lets cut through the spin and find the real way to obtain access to PE's. It is surprisingly simple. I have a good number of PE's. How did I obtain my connection to the PE market? Communication. Everyday we see people with PE's. Has anyone tried communicating with them in private and asking the right questions?

Wrong question: Who/Where do you get your PE's from?

Right Question: Can you let me know when any PE's become available to you that you may be willing to sell.

In the former example the approach is more professional and more relaxed than the latter. That way a dialog is established. One must know that the majority of people are reluctant to divulge their contacts...and even if your contact would release info your contact's contact refuses to be advertised. So your stuck dealing with the one person...but at least your contact has been established and that is the first step. From there so much can happen because the shoe game is circular. Once people see that you have a few PE's in your collection MORE PEOPLE WILL DEAL WITH YOU. Because they understand that you already have a contact they are more comfortable working with you. They assume you know the ground rules. What are the ground rules you ask? Here we go...the tutorial:

1. Patience. There is a good chance that you'll have to sit on your PE's for a while before people can even know they exist. I have a couple of PE's that 90% of those on this board have never seen and I have been in the presence of a pair of PE's that 99% of those on this board have never seen nor know exist. Some know what shoes I am referencing in about 4-6 months I can post pics but until then I am not at liberty to post pics if I want to keep my contacts open. I keep my PE's low key for a reason.

2. Communication. You have to communicate with those known to have access to PE's. Don't ask where they got them from; ask if they would be willing to sell a pair to you. I promise, once you get one pair they come very easy.

3. Financing. Especially if youre dealing with someone 4th or 5th down the PE chain, they can be pricey, very pricey. Be prepared to pay $500-$1000.00 depending on the shoe and the strength of your contact.

4. Don't advertise. I know for a fact that people are reluctant to sell to those that they feel will advertise their connection. You have to remember that people are trying to preserve their contacts. If too many people know the origin of shoes contacts and connections are exposed all the way down the line.

5. Don't bite off more than you can chew. If you have to resort to eBay to sell PE's that you bought soon after purchasing them because you have other financial responsibilities you will likely have difficulty obtaining another PE connection.

6. Be respectful but persistent. Often times it takes a while to come across PE's so give your contact a chance to search. But also periodically let your contact know that youre still interested. An e-mail a day is probably excessive but once a week may be more manageable.

If you follow these rules you'll increase your chances of getting into the PE market. Trust me.

Let's keep this post going! Got the ok to share these and thought people would like to see them. These hold a special place in my collection as I am a HUGE Melo collector. Big thanks to those who helped me acquire these!

Every shoe has a story, so I'll share a brief one about these...

Originally made up for Melo to wear in 05 All Star Game. However, Melo didn't make the team. He ended up wearing the XX's in the Rookie vs Sophmore Game to help promote them as they were being released that weekend. So, great looking colorway in my opinion which never made it out into public's eye.

Enjoy!

If you remember correctly, LeBron had All Star shoes made also for his first season, but he didn't make the team either. Nike tends to jump the gun a little sometimes
