So, in order for him to have owed me 40 Euro....I should've just said "double"?
I swear I've never had this problem occur before...

.....ok.
Say son wins the first round. I know owe him 20 Euro.
I ask him to run it back, double or nothing. In my mind this means, the initial 20 Euro bet is canceled out and we're now playing for 40 Euro...winner takes all.
If he wins, I owe him 40 Euro. If I win, he owes me 40 Euro.
I've been playing like this for years.
Double or nothing was like one of us leaves with double what we originally bet and the other leaves with nada...
So no one else in the world plays like that???

He already has twenty euro that he won, so essentially, he is betting 60 euro to your 20 euro for that scenario to be right?
Read that again, does that make any sense where anyone would want to make that bet?
I think not.
Off yourself

Now thats just a dumb way to play. What's even scarier is that your friends that you've played w/ in the past agreed to this.Originally Posted by Illuztrious

that's ridiculous to cancel the original money owed from the first bet. He already has 20, why would he not want the original twenty. In thiscase, you would have pretty much all to gain and he would be losing out. it would be (to him) win an extra twenty, or lose forty, whereas you would either owetwenty more or gain forty. You see it doesn't add up. You would have gotten the better deal and this "double or nothing" wouldn't make sensesince the nothing' isn't involved anywhere. Doulbe or nothing, like many nters have stated is when the winner of the prior game has a chance todouble his money and the loser of the prior game has a chance to bring his loss back to nothingOriginally Posted by Illuztrious
