seems like artists been on their grind more than ever...

Freeway got his Month of Madness.
Young Chris got his 30 verses in 30 days.
Crooked I with his Hip-Hop Weekly.
Trey Songz on his 2pac shhh with a new song / remix almost everyday.
Mad Ne-yo songs leaking here and there after his album.
Charles Hamilton coming out with crapload of mixtapes.
Little Brother bein on a lot of collab tracks.
Phonte doing Tigallo and Zo! and Foreign Exchange albums.
Jim Jones workin on a album AND a broadway show.
Drake havin tracks here and there ( where the f.
is the mixtape though? son said august...its '09 already )
Blu releasing three albums in a span of a year.
Clipse / Re-Up releasing 2 mixtapes, a Re-Up Album and workin on a new one.
#%+%, you can throw in Rihanna releasing a re-release of her re-release if you want.

and others i might've missed.

ps. i ain't even no wayne fan, but i guess artists saw what it did for him.
( yall gotta be hatin if you can't least recognize son's grind )
they probably ain't gettin that exact thing, but it's great to see artists
pushin theyself more with workin harder especially the younger acts.

more music for people to enjoy.

for us, sure...for them its a nightmare...when you can download someone's entire career in mere mins forces you to work 10x as hard for 1/3 of the moneythe biz used to have....

i remember when a mixtape was a rare thing, now you got artist burning themselves out before they even get to reap the benefits of their hard work because ifthe fans don't hear about you in a week on youtube or worldstar or datpiff you become irelevant.

^ yea bra put out three albums with the quickness... AND he still doin pretty good numbers

Its funny how it is considered "work ethic" when artists sacrafice quality for quanity. Just because you have a lot of material doesn't mean youhave good work ethic.

Eh I prefer the old days when rappers released an album every 2.5 years but with the utmost quality.

No love for Curren$y?

Him, Freeway and Young Chris where hands down the hardest working dudes of 2008.

there's some truth to that with certain artists...
but you can't really say that about all of them.

and i kinda disagree...if you have x amount of
material made in an x amount of days, it means
they're still grinding based on their own craft.
they may not necessarily be creating some
"can i live" or "the world is yours" overnight,
but they're doing what they can based on
their own own skill. they may not work as
hard as another artist, but that doesn't mean
they ain't grinding / it's not "work ethic."

like this:

perfect example.

because i refuse to listen to his douchebaggery and
/ or i may not like his music. regardless, i can't say
homie wasn't on his grind cuz he was. he prolly ain't
work as hard as lupe does when he makes his verses,
but you can't expect him to be like that when it ain't his skill.

he was still on his grind though with trying to cater
to the demographic that listens to him.

just because you don't like a certain artist's music
don't automatically void out their "work ethic"...

freeway doesnt use the beats for help, he helps the beats. the work he put in w/ Blunt during month of madness is just as good as anythinghe's done w/ blaze.

freeway basically dropped a great double album last month. all original beats, hooks, lyrics. everything

According to E!, Prince is planning to release three new albums in 2009.

Likely to be released through an exclusive deal with a major retailer, the new efforts, one of which titled "MPLSOUND," finds the "PurpleRain" star experimenting with new ways of recording. In a recent interview with the Los Angeles Times at his Hollywood Hills home, Prince also talked upnew tunes by his protégé, Bria Valente, and mentioned that he didn't vote in November because of his religion.
