Not all cars are the same, duh. Obviously I can open up my tC's hood easily by pulling a damn lever on the inside. It's different on thebimmers and I've googled every possible variation on how to open a bmw hood, no luck.

Gotta get it done before moms goes to work in the morning..

Screw it. Im going to bed. I'll call my dad in the morning..........

there should be a manual in the glove box- maybe your describing it wrong - the LATCH to release the lock should be on the panel near the left foot of thedriver...its flush and you pull it up... then a lil latch comes out of the grill and u release that to open it- if your talking latch as in to hold it up afteryou get it open which i think some people are describing i cant help you...it should stay up auto if not look for the holes

Try yahoo.com/answers. I would look it up for you, but don't know the year. I find a lot of info on there.

BMWs don't come with manuals anymore? and if she can afford a 7 series she can afford to take it to jiffy lube at least

I'm hoping I can help you out. The release latch should be on the floor, beside where your left foot would be if you're sitting in the driver seat.LIFT UP ANY FLOOR MATS THAT MAY BE OBSCURING THE LATCH. Once you get it opended, the lever to open the hood should be right under the BMW hood ornament. HopeI'm not late but I probably am.

i have a 7 series...there's a latch on the left side by the drivers side door. Pull the latch and the hood will pop open. Go to the front of the car and alever will be sticking out of the grill. Life the lever and pull the hood up.

I do not recommend changing the oil though. a BMW oil change costs $117 @ the minimum and its expensive for a reason.

Almost half of that is labor. I get free oil changes every 15k miles. But I bought my car, not lease, and there's no way in hell I'dwait 15k for an oil change so I do mine every 5k. All the quartz of oil, and the oil filter..basically everything you need is about $60-70, the rest is laborto basically lift your car up, take out the drain plug, pour in new oil and change the filter. (This is for regular BMW's and not M's).

I agree with some of you guys..there should be a latch on the left, by the driver's door. Hood should pop right up, but on the older model, there's ahinge you gotta push or pull (I forget) on the kidney grill.

Edit: To the OP, I wouldn't try to do it if I were you. I doubt you have the right concentration of oil.

exactly - unless your under warranty you shouldnt be getting oil changes from BMW - use oem filters and oil or better oil and your fine - no other differences

and dude is missing so he prob messed something up

but as i said itshould be a 2 part release...the one in the car then releases the lil hinge out the grill-

Lol, Son probably Incredible Hulk'd the hood open and ripped the hinge off on some frustration type $+$%

You're probably right...You know he probably tried to open the hood for a good 30 mins before running in the house to ask NT.

Should be on the drivers bottom left. Right by your left knee when you're sitting down. It looks like a stick..

Haha..

Its a BMW 740i, 1994. Its my dads car. He keeps extra oil in the trunk, so it is the right oil.

There is no flush lever type thing on the left side of the drivers footwell, or by the knee area, those were the first places I checked.

Also, I looked for the manual but it wasn't in the glove box, don't know why.

ANYWAYS, thanks to those of you that helped.

Try sneaking up behind the car and then yelling obscenities. Maybe you will scare it and the hood will pop open.
