Who really have the better life at the end? which sub group becomes the most dominant/winner/successful?

Some may say Jocks are done after HS or even after college but most are ultra competitive and win in most fields they dabble with.

Nerds are superior when you consider intelligence, but like many assumptions Nerds don't always become successful.... Although it doesn't apply to all.

also which one do you belong to?

Which nerds are you talking about? The computer science nerd or the Magic: The Gathering/World of Warcraft nerd?

I was a nerd jock. I was the smartest on any revenue sport, hands down, and I'm not being overly confident by saying that.

A true jock is self driven, and they exhibit leadership and social skills that translate well into any environment.

A true nerd is exactly the opposite.

I don't think I've ever known true jocks or nerds, matter of fact. I've known nerdy jocks, and athletic nerds, but never a true reclusive, geekynerd who wears a pocket protector.

Anyway, I think people who are driven to succeed do well. Nerds are only successful if they are driven, and jocks who are only on the team to be with friendsaren't really jocks.

So, to answer your question, I don't think either are truly successful when it all boils down to it. They each have to have characteristics of the other towin in life.

Did that make sense?

i def fall into the jock category (D1 volleyball/captain of my team/blah blah)

being a jock in high school is pretty whatever, cuz if you were so great, you woulda played college. i know a lot of people who were these "greatathletes" in high school, then flopped college athletics gives you a lot of connections, making it easier than the everyday person to get started.

i'd say its probably a tie. because you will always have the athlete that is dumb as rocks, and the nerd that loses motivation and doesn't use theirpotential.

Waits for all of the people coming in saying that they are in fact, both nerds and jocks, exceptions to the rule and different from all of the rest like asnowflake flowing down to Earth from God's teat.

No it didn't.

both groups have its pros n cons. if u a jock u most likely got that physical appeal to women n if u a nerd u most likely got a intellectual appeal toemployers........jocks FTW!!!

I read it again and no, it didn't Proofreading rocks.

Basically, a true jock is a #!@!, and a true nerd is weak.

A true jock is all about sports, and a true nerd is all about knowledge. Both lack common sense and social skills that are essential in any workingenvironment, save for A) Professional Sports, which is quite difficult to get into, and B) IT

(sorry, that was partially an inside joke, but it still mademe laugh.

There are very few jobs that do not require personal interaction, and true definitions of either jocks or nerds lack sociable skills that make for success.

And not all folks that were great in High School got the chance to play in college. I blew out my knee in preseason camp, a Week before Oregon came to visit...

Did THAT make more sense, Smooth?

I didn't really ask for the technical part nor different scenarios on what might happen down the road.

most Jocks for example become stock brokers, lawyers, and developers. They use their competitive nature to win and move up.

the nerds usually rely on their intelligence as far as success is concerned, most end up becoming professors, engineers, programmers and what not. since theylack the competitive aspect they just find their natural safe spot and don't go beyond that.

YES ofcourse both groups have someone that go above and beyond from what is assumed. But that is not the case in this argument.

If you're calling someone that's smart a nerd, then for shame. If you're lumping all athletes in with the "jocks" group, then doubleshame.

I took this one to mean people who are straight up jocks, or straight up nerds. Which I don't know very many... And I'd venture to think there are veryfew of you that do...

There's usually some overlap since most people tend to overgeneralize these categories. So it's really hard to tell.

i think you would have to know more about each person. maybe the jock in hs/college now plays for the nba or nfl and maybe the "nerd" now owns abusiness or is a top engineer. so yea it's hard to tell
